The “stimulus” was to keep govt employees on the job. It was only to kick the can down the road. This slush fund is about to run out which will cause lots of state and local govt types to get laid off. Then add in all the college kids who are graduating in May with no jobs to go to and it is going to be an ugly summer. Boys and girls we are in for a rough ride this year, but November is only 8 months off. Dims are going to be burnt toast.
Same goes for the accounting industry, particularly those that are over 50. I've never worked Big 4, but they've laid off 25% of their staff over the past year, and there's a ripple effect. I was unemployed for six months last year.
But there’s still 20 more states! The stimulus is working! /sarc
I thought that there were ‘27’ more states? (sarc)
No surprise here
Lost my job 2-26
They should just start calling it “employment change”.
After all, they think it’ll work with “climate change”
Homepage says you worked for them for 25 years. I am so sorry to hear this. What do you do?
We’re number one! We’re number one!
Oh, forgot to update that.
Actually 26 1/2 years when I got laid off.
I was a Sales Coordinator. I worked for three managers, supported about 25 sales reps, and did data entry into the computer systems so their security systems worked correctly, and the billing was correct.
I had 0% error ratio.
I was replaced by a scanner. Now the sales reps scan their work to a center in Florida, where they are not familiar with the policies and procedures, don’t know the reps & their handwriting, etc. Those folks are paid minimum wage, and what I heard when I left was the turnover ratio was very high.
I’m actually glad I’m no longer there. I did not like the direction they were going.
I now work for the Roman Catholic Church as an Administrative Assistant to our Pastor. He is responsible for four churchs, two schools, and more I don’t know yet.
Thanks for asking!
Good luck in your new endeavor. He must have some rural parishes to have four of them. Sounds like some of the situations here in northern Minnesota.
If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
Florida's rate of 11.9% ties the all time record set in 1975. In Ocala it is up to 15.4%.
Are you serious? How many thousands does that come to?
A lot. We went up one full percent last month. At least we are doing better than Palm Coast(Flagler County).
I wanted to smack my friend when he told me to get off my a** and go looking for a job.He insists that there are jobs out there! Right.... And I’m Mrs.Powers Boothe!
Well if you were in the border city of El Centro, California where the unemployment rate has been above 27% for a year now, things would be worse.
