County Spends $600 Mil On Welfare For Illegal Immigrants ( LA )
Judicial Watch ^ | 03/11/2010

Los Angeles County, the nation’s most populous, may be in the midst of a dire financial crisis but somehow there are plenty of funds for illegal aliens. In January alone, anchor babies born to the county’s illegal immigrants collected more than $50 million in welfare benefits. At that rate the cash-strapped county will pay around $600 million this year to provide illegal aliens’ offspring with food stamps and other welfare perks.

The exorbitant figure...doesn’t even include the enormous cost of educating, medically treating or incarcerating illegal aliens ...annually spends more than $1 billion for those combined services...

About a quarter of the county’s welfare and food stamp issuances go to parents who reside in the United States illegally and collect benefits for their anchor babies.

Nationwide, Americans pay around $22 billion annually to provide illegal immigrants with welfare benefits ... Tens of billions more are spent on other social services, medical care, public education and legal costs such as incarceration and public defenders.

Couldnt we send them home for 10% of that cost and still make out big time?

I think that number is awesome to hear, and I wish would go up radically.

When liberal policies bring this sort of cr@p on, I want everyone to see the outcome of such ways. Oh, and to feel it on their pocketbooks, too.

Screw liberals and their sanctuary attitudes toward illegals.

Its really annoying to hear the commercials aired by the CTA and their president Mr Sanchez begging for more taxpayer money, knowing they are 100% supportive of having the children of illegals in their schools.

People use the 14th Ammendment as an excuse. We need a frank discussion, in Washington, with the Supreme Court as to the real meaning of the 14th Ammendment and settle this once and for all. My understanding of the Ammendment is that it was adopted to give the children of slaves the right to become citizens of the US...........not for illegal immigrants that break our laws and cross our borders.

None of this will end until the whining cry-baby liberals have 100% of their own paychecks going to pay for illegals and their anchor babies. Unfortunately, California will be expecting the rest of us to bail them out from their assinine Utopian ideals.

Lay this at the feet of that fruit-loop Judge Mariana Pfaelzer who overturned Prop. 187. Morally she’s far worse than the illegals.

University of California could be subsidizing illegal immigration

As racially diverse as the California population is becoming, the illegal immigration debate and the passionate emotions accompanying it are not disappearing anytime soon. This is true especially in light of the recent decision by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to issue an ultimatum to President Obama—get to work on reworking the healthcare bill’s immigration provisions or forget about healthcare reform altogether.

The tension at the national level only scratches the surface of the immigration affair. The illegal immigration debate hits even closer to home in the Golden State via the college education system.

Fox News is reporting that professors at the University of California San Diego have collaborated with a colleague at the University of Michigan to develop a cell phone application that alerts immigrants crossing the border to key landmarks, water, and Border Patrol checkpoints.

The issue here isn’t necessarily that such technology exists. According to the article, Border Patrol agents know it’s pretty much a given that those wanting to get into the U.S. illegally are going to utilize whatever technology they can access to do so. There’s always going to be some avenue of committing a crime that will go unnoticed by law enforcement—at least for a while. The real issue is the source from which the technology is coming, which isn’t solely from some obscure, underground movement.

Enter the University of California education system. Instead of teaching students to go out into the world as law abiding citizens and to make a difference in that respect, modern academia is sanctioning students to question legal authority, fostering a mindset that this country’s laws don’t really matter.

This ought to be troubling to the California taxpayer. Whether he likes it or not, his taxpayer funds are now legally being funneled to potentially subsidize crime-—under the guise of education funding.

The professors at UC San Diego somehow see fit that they can use taxpayer funding to encourage an illegal activity of coming into the country without going through the necessary process or before any kind of real immigration reform has even been passed.

This story underscores a paramount point.

Legislation is key to tackling the problem of illegal immigration, but it is also counterproductive if the state’s own educational institutions are potentially undermining the rule of law.

Is there going to come a time when the rest of America decides it’s time to cut its losses and simply cede to Mexico everything to the south of L.A.’s northern suburbs? If we’re not going to fight to protect our national integrity, why should we have to pay for the occupation?

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” — Author Unknown

It is not only illegal immigrants that are costing us a fortune. 53% of legal immigrant families are on welfare, We are importing poverty to the tune of 1.2 million legal immigrants a year.

34 percent of immigrants lack health insurance, compared to 13 percent of natives. Immigrants and their U.S.-born children account for 71 percent of the increase in the uninsured since 1989. Our Emergency Rooms have been turned into free health care clinics for immigrants, legal and illegal, affecting the quality and timeliness of services and increasing medical costs subsidized by the insured and the taxpayers.

The poverty rate for immigrants and their U.S.-born children (under 18) is 17 percent, nearly 50 percent higher than the rate for natives and their children. Milton Friedman said, “You cannot simultaneously have free immigration and a welfare state.”
