A Chattanooga police officer has resigned after it was revealed that he was associating with members of the local Outlaw Motorcycle gang.
Derrick Pendergrass had been placed on administrative leave awaiting the outcome of an internal investigation of allegations that he knew and associated with the gang members, many of whom are believed to be known felons.
He resigned Tuesday.
It is a violation of police department policy to associate with known felons, according Chattanooga police public information officer Rebecca Royval.
The investigation into Mr. Pendergrass actions stemmed from the recent federal crackdown of the local Outlaws Motorcycle gang.
Federal agents arrested several members of the Outlaws in late February, accusing them of running and participating in a cocaine and crack cocaine ring.
More than 16 members of the gang are charged with various drug crimes and currently are being prosecuted by assistant U.S. attorneys in Chattanooga.

Let me guess. They didn’t do a background on him or a polygraph, and didn’t know that he was an outlaw biker. The 2%ers have been trying, and in some cases succeeding, in infiltrating local LE.

Not all members of the Outlaws Motorcycle CLUB are felons, I'm sure. So this should be easy... all they have to do is prove WHO he was "associating" with, and if any of those individuals happen to be felons, bust his ass for breaking the rules. But for them to assume that everyone with a patch on their back is a felon is absurd.
BTW Scotsman, what is a "2%er"?

I’m pretty sure that membership into the Outlaws requires a felony (not sure if that means conviction, or just proving that you did one) AND ownership of a Harley.

It is a violation of police department policy to associate with known felons, according Chattanooga police public information officer Rebecca Royval.Notice that he didn't care about violating department policy until it became public knowledge that he was violating department policy.

I am in the MC world, so I understand the meaning of the 1% diamond. Just making sure the Scotsman didn't know something I didn't concerning a "2% Low Fat" diamond for the skinny guys.

So he was “associating”? What does that mean?
Prospecting?
Having beer at the local watering hole?
Knew a guy who knows a guy?
