It may take (yet more) blatant antisemitism on the part of the (anti-)American left to move Jews off the Democrat party.
We may see that after Obama is electorally deposed in 2012. I suspect more moonbats will go "Cynthia McKinney" and start openly blaming "the Jews" for Bambi's epic failures. If "mainstream" liberals and the media have gone batty enough themselves that they refuse to criticize or marginalize such talk, that might finally put some fear of the left into Jews.
'Course even that, sadly, would probably only move a few.
I wonder if a few jewish voters here in the US will finally wake up. Or do they give a hoot about Israel anymore?
If you listen to CSPIN you hear callers hating the jewish people in general and the state of Israel in particular.
A host actually responded to a caller the other day. A first in memory. The caller said that if we cut off aid to Israel then everyone could have free health care.
The host gave the number of aid to Israel and asked the caller if she thought that would be enough to give everyone free health care. The caller said the host’s numbers were wrong.
That was the end of the call.
The haters are out there and aren’t ashamed to express their anti semitism. It seems a badge of honor.

Although anti semitism has been quite open and unrestrained in much (most?) of Europe throughout my lifetime and long before, this business of allowing it airtime here in the USA is something that I haven't been accustomed to, at least in the volume and shrillness that I've seen it as of late. Although sadly it's always existed in American society in varying degrees, giving such vitriol a place on the airwaves elevates it to a level of cultural acceptance alongside other legitimate issues, concerns and perspectives of the day. Having such filth broadcast on public airwaves tends to give it an air of legitimacy and an imprimatur of societal approval that back-alley whispers do not.
Broadcasters and their Leftist enablers who try to say that because they bash Christians regularly, they should be able to bash Jews as well are of course missing the point....two wrongs don't make a right.
Do you think that any recent rise in public, unrestrained broadcasting of anti semitic statements may have a link to the Obama administration? Perhaps caused by:
I'm wondering if having a President from this particular demographic makes some people think that they now have the license and tacit approval to openly express and publicly broadcast virulent anti semitism?
Treating Israel so very poorly, as this 'administration' has in particular, may also send a message that such awful things are 'okay' to broadcast in America.
2012 and a new President who actually upholds American values can't come too soon for me.

PRINCETON, NJ — For the first time since 1991, more than 6 in 10 Americans — 63% — say their sympathies in the Middle East situation lie more with the Israelis than with the Palestinians. Fifteen percent side more with the Palestinians, down slightly from recent years, while a combined 23% favor both sides, favor neither side, or have no opinion.
The 63% sympathizing with Israel today is statistically unchanged from the 58% to 59% seen from 2006 to 2009; however, it is considerably higher than most of the previous readings on this Gallup measure since 1993. The trend includes two 38% readings in 1996 and 1997.

I think that the FReepers who maintain pinglists provide an essential service to the Community here that all too often goes unrecognized. Without pinglists, many people would miss some of the most worthwhile threads and posts here. It takes considerable extra time to maintain a list and I think that the people who are willing to do that should be shown considerably more appreciation than they usually are.
