Obama promise: Brighter education futures for kids

ATLANTA (AP) -- President Barack Obama is promising parents and their kids that with his administration's help they will have better teachers in improved schools so U.S. students can make up for academic ground lost against youngsters in other countries.

A plan to overhaul the 2002 education law championed by President George W. Bush was unveiled by the Obama administration Saturday in hopes of replacing a system that in the last decade has tagged more than a third of schools as failing and created a hodgepodge of sometimes weak academic standards among states.

"Unless we take action — unless we step up — there are countless children who will never realize their full talent and potential," Obama said during a video address on Saturday. "I don't accept that future for them. And I don't accept that future for the United States of America."

In the proposed dismantling of the No Child Left Behind law, education officials would move away from punishing schools that don't meet benchmarks and focus on rewarding schools for progress, particularly with poor and minority students. Obama intends to send a rewrite to Congress on Monday of the law.

Yes, yes. I remember the evil No Child Left Behind Act. It was solely the product of that evil George Bush. Somehow he, as President, introduced the bill to Congress, passed it out of committee, voted it through the House and Senate with only his vote, and signed it himself.

Quite a feat actually.

Otherwise, you might wonder how the bill became a law. (Remember School House Rock?)

Let's see. It was sponsored by TED KENNEDY (D). Passed the House by a vote of 384-45. Then the Senate with 91-8. But no, that couldn't be, could it? It was all George Bush! The media tells me so, and never mentions anyone else involved.

But, regardless of anything else. Let's stop having any standards of education that shows the public school system is failing. Let's just throw money at it.
Private education and home schooling is the way to go.

Barry still hasn’t accomplished his bumbling of the healthcare system, but he’s already moved on to education. I’m guessing that this means a new wealth redistribution scheme via college loan programs and a more prominent hand for the teachers union to clamp down on independent minded educators.

Congress has no business legislating Education or Health Care.

Education is a STATES RIGHTS issue.

Health Care is a PERSONAL issue.

If you want something screwed up, get Congress involved.

BTW, since when is 0bama an expert in education. Where’s his college degree?

We don’t even know what grades 0bama made in school or what courses he took. What qualifications does he have?

It is painfully obvious that he did not have a normal childhood. He throws a baseball like a sissy-man. He even throws a basketball like a sissy-man. He rides a bike like a sissy-man. He walks the dog like a sissy-man. He even has the sissy-man lisp!

Why would anyone in their right mind want someone like 0bama telling them how to educate their child.

Public school shouldn’t be the normal thing for kids. It should be a fall-back for those who couldn’t get education otherwise. It’s the fault of those parents who are uninterested in their kids.
