The Greatest Assault on the Constitution In Your Lifetime

If you can make only ONE call, make it to Rep. Louise Slaughter:
Tel: 202-225-3615 / Fax: 202-225-7822

The Washington Examiner has reported that House Democrats appear poised to adopt a rule that would pass the Senate health care bill without actually voting on it. Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) is preparing to pass the health care overhaul through the House of Representatives without a vote, as was originally reported by the National Journal's Congress Daily.

In the "Slaughter Solution," the rule would declare that the House "deems" the Senate version of the health care bill to have been passed by the House. House members would still have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but they would then be able to say they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself.

Democrats would thereby avoid a direct vote on the health care bill while allowing it to become law!

Constitutional attorney Mark R. Levin asks, "They're going to present a rule, issued by her committee as chairman, that says that the House already adopted the Senate bill when we know it didn't?"

Good to hear! That's pretty much in line with the way Jay Cost sees it at his Horse Race Blog at Real Clear Politics. He does not estimate the Yeas and Nays, though.

As of 10:15 PM 3/13)

Democrats Who Voted Nay in November:

Very Hard to Persuade: 27
Hard to Persuade: 4
Persuadable: 6

Democrats Who Voted Yea in November:

Suggested Might Now Vote Nay (Including Confirmed Stupak Democrats): 19
 Other Possible Stupak Democrats: 8

Brett Baier reported last night on Fox that Dahlkemper is a no. Let’s hope he’s correct.

I cant believe Rick Boucher would vote yes; he’s in deep yogurt after voting for cap and tax. As for Tom Perriello, his first term will be his last if he caves.

That’s reassuring if so...tough to understand this process which is taking so many detours. Then one wonders just how much is a distraction as the political games play out. It’s as if there is no referee to call foul!

Thanks for the link. I clicked and got the list of phone numbers of the Blue Dog Dems. I’ve been calling Congress persons from that list today. Usually I get a busy signal the first time I call (that’s a good sign) but I just hit redial.

In some offices you will get a voice mail message; but, you can’t leave a message because their voice mailbox is FULL (that’s another good sign). Hope other FREEPERS are calling.
