House Democrats Short on Health Care Votes, Clyburn Says
Fox News ^ | 3/15/2010

Posted on 03/15/2010 6:44:31 AM PDT by Lazamataz

House Democratic leaders still do not have enough votes to pass health care reform, the chamber's top vote counter said, even though the administration is aiming to have the bill passed this week.

The reality check came from Rep. James Clyburn, the House Democratic whip.

"No, we don't have them as of this morning, but we've been working this thing all weekend," Clyburn, D-S.C., said.

But despite the challenge of corralling wavering Democrats, Clyburn joined with other Democratic officials in saying he was confident the measure would pass, echoing comments from Speaker Nancy Pelosi Saturday.

Democratic leaders want the House to pass the Senate-approved version of the bill, before moving on to a package of changes. That package, which is already under consideration, would be taken up in the Senate as a "reconciliation" bill, meaning the Senate would be able to approve it with just 51 votes -- Democrats turned to the legislative tactic after Republican Scott Brown won the Massachusetts Senate election in January, breaking the party's 60-vote filibuster-proof majority.

Keep the pressure on these Dims. Don’t let up a nanosecond. Not until the vote happens.”

What if it DOESN’T happen? What if the non-vote SLAUGHTER happens? In any case, your advice to not let up for a nanosecond still applies!

On Pelosi's headstone: "I had the votes!"

Assuming they can identify the toilet they flush the remains down.

Pray they dont pass it....and Pray that more good americans run for office at every level....

It doesn't matter if they pass any federal version of health care as Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution does not specifically grant Congress the power to regulate health care. The people are not bound to comply with any unconstitutional act of Congress.

I just telephoned Congressman Alan Boyd (D-FL) of Florida’s 2nd Congressional District (Northwest Florida). He voted NO to the House bill (public option, etc.) His office informed me that he was UNDECIDED as to how he was going to vote on the Senate bill now before the House. This guy is a member of the “Blue Dog” coalition and in a very red area of the state. I made it very clear that the Congressman’s constituents overwhelmingly oppose this bill. Don’t think he cares though, but we need to keep up the pressure!!

"What if it DOESN’T happen? What if the non-vote SLAUGHTER happens?"

A vote for the Slaughter rule is a vote for healthcare as far as I'm concerned. We should let them know that in no uncertain terms. Besides, it will mean that when the pubbies take over, any dirty underhanded trick that the pubbies can get away with to repeal this piece of crap will be fair game and we should support that. Our Republic is at stake here.

I heard that. Gibbs sounded pretty confident - but then again, he’s an A-hole who will lie and say anything for Zero.

We could also just decide not to fund it.

Furthermore, there’s a damn good chance the SCOTUS would nullify it if the Slaughter Option is executed, since it would be rather easy to call it unconstitutional, even if it meant dusting off the Federalist Papers in order to do it.

2) the slaugher thing - this is the scariest IMO b/c it means the dems and 0bama are actually willing to simply “take over” the country. This is 0bama’s Chavez move and must be met with extreme opposition - like asking the military to take him and/or pelosi/ried into custody.

Well in your scenario I think #2 is the most likely WITHOUT a vote, I don't see any other play unless Pelosi has at least 220 YES votes when she calls a vote. Then the fun really begins. Obama and his army of thugs, bureaucrats, gays, minorities and other riff raf daring you and I to come get him, playing the "You guys are kooks card". Our Republic is on the precipice with this, its that important, a sh*t or get off the pot moment for the US. I wonder the logistics of actually removing a President, is their any mechanism for it, besides impeachment. I know Eisenhower threatened to physically remove Wallace from office back in the 1950's because the Alabama state legislature which was full of DEMS refused to remove him.

Well the Slaughter Option seems to be the route they plan to go on. Plugs has his marching orders, to overturn the Senate Parliamentarian. The you will see how despicable 405 of your fellow Americans are, how they will say in a poll that Obama’s ends justified his means, that free stuff is more important than liberty, at least the drones think they are making that deal.

The military can do it with judicial backing i reckon [but don’t know.] But i dunno how that would work.

If 0bama simply decides he’s the dictator and needs no legislative branch [and that’s what he’s doing w/ slaughter], what would be our founders’ recipe? Would they go for 0bama or slaughter or pelosi or who?

THe Rs need to have it ready. I’m sure as 110% that the military is on our side fwiw.

So what the Joint Chiefs are called together and they make the call and march over to the White House and then what a gun battle between the Secret Service and the military. I just can't see it ending that way, the MSM would go ape, calling it a military junta. What is the play after that, call a new election? Disband Congress? Who is in charge? Nice in theory but how could we execute such a plan with 40% of the populace ready to march for their free stuff.

Well I think any notion that the Republicans are the same as the Democrats has been put to rest. Sure they have socialist proclivities but are not insane like this mentally deranged speaker and President.
