OCOEE, Fla. -- When two gunmen tried to break into an Ocoee house early Tuesday morning, the homeowner pulled out his gun and shot one of the men dead. Another robber ran off after the home invasion on Pomegranate Court.
WFTV gathered new information Tuesday afternoon about the shooter and the robber.

Next time he should invest in a mini-gun with a tri-pod so he’ll take both down! :-)
Cool! Glad to see they have this covered in Florida. Lots of places don’t.
>> police said they found the robber, 37-year-old David Butler, face down on top of his gun in the driveway. David Butler later died at the hospital.
I can just see his momma blubbering away to the neighbors “He be a good boy”. I clearly remember John Spenkelink’s momma doing the same thing after Florida strapped him in “Old Sparky” in 1979.
Hey there, buck up little Democrat, I'm sure Mr. Butler will still be voting this November.
In most states, and I am not insinuating that the article or its author are not implying the homeowner that they should be charged...
But...
In most states ALL homicides are investigated as such, and are reviewed by a grand jury, most of the time as a “no bill” or no charges filed...
Even a “justifiable” shoot (in this case) requires it to be scrutinized as this one will be...
I don’t like to see the insinuation either...But this will be chalked up rather quickly as a win for the homeowner, and a lose for the criminal who rolled the dice and came up on the losing end...As for the criminals buddy (when caught)...That person may eventually be charged with his friends murder...Strange twist of fate, but definetly a twist...
Just my take on this...
I’m really hoping you’re wrong. I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’m just hoping. That’s horrendous if true.
This home and it's environs protected by Smith and Weston!
“Are they trying to say that he should be????????”

No, that is an automatic line that should be in any well written news report where a person acted in self defense. It is to assure the public that the police are not routinely charging everyone involved with a crime.
Since you're on starboard, I'll yield way and tell you that I hope I am wrong, too! However, in every county in which I have lived, this has been the case. The more rural the area, the more flagrant the abuses, even if fewer in number, because it is damn well known where to find the offenders.
Just look up outstanding warrants in your county. If there are more than 5 violent criminals wandering about who have outstanding warrants, talk to your sheriff. No excuse. If the official to whom you complain uses the word "overwhelmed," more than three times, you're buying.
PS, I will also confess to the crime of being overly fond of the port start, not to mention the port. No need to tell the sheriff about that.
There are places where the police will not go. This is not what we want to hear but it is the reality.
The other guy probably started running when the gun fire started. I”d like to know what kind of hand gun the homeowner used.

That’s a Sig ... which I actually prefer to S&W.
I’ve heard that there are places in the major cities that the cops will only go if they absolutely have to. I tend to believe that a heavily armed representative of the government with radio and back up would be able to go any where they please. Of course, I’m out here in a quiet, leafy community. It’s not my @$$ that gets hurt going to those places.
my wife caught a speeding ticket when 39 weeks pregnant, long/short, she almost died in delivery and missed the when it went to court...
deputy showed up on our porch with an arrest warrant like clockwork...
see my previous...
Some places where the cops won’t go are rural communities.
I’ve not heard that. Why is that, do you think?
There are still a few rural areas that are rather like the old time mountain “hollers” where strangers stick out like a sore thumb and intruders are not tolerated. There is one near where I live that is said to be like that. I have never driven into it but it is said to have one road in and one road out and it is in the general area of where “Peewee” Gaskins had his own private graveyard. I have been told that there is an area like that not too far from Greensboro, NC also. Of course there are reports complete with pictures now of areas in our national parks that are like enemy camps with marijuana being grown in large quantities. The seizure laws haven’t stopped the growers, they just use public lands now. Then there are the Jihad training camps, one of them is in York county here in SC.
Then there is the matter of law enforcement being called to a location where a gunfight is going on and they don’t show up until they are certain the war is over, then they will go in and investigate. This has been reported in a number of locations. Law enforcement officers are not required by law to endanger themselves, often they do but it is out of dedication, not legal requirements.
By the way, that is some very good advice in your tag line, I have forgotten it a few times but I am trying hard not to forget it again.
