The swimsuit round of the Miss England competition has been given its marching orders after 50 years at the encouragement of last year's winner, soldier Katrina Hodge.

Instead, participants will take part in a sports challenge overseen by Lance Corporal Hodge.

(edit)

Miss England national organiser Angie Beasley said the change showed that Miss England was constantly evolving as a competition.

“Every year the girls take part in the various rounds of Miss England – we have a talent, charity, eco and now the sports round, which will replace the swimwear in the competition," she said.

Why bother watching, then?

I doubt that very many people will.

Precisely.

Once I saw “charity, eco and now the sports round” I wondered where the “Sensitivity to Muslims” event was. ;)

>> Maybe I’m the odd man out; but when I see a gorgous woman in a bikini; the very LAST thing on my mind is “I wonder how fast she can run, and if she plays beach sports well?”.

I’m with you. Sporting events might be a good addition to the competition in that it allows for the possibility of accidental nudity (you never know what might happen with scantily clad women bouncing around). Other than that, who cares?

The way these things are going, pageants are going to be the equivalent of doctoral dissertation defenses ... feminists are often not so pro-woman as they are anti-beauty.

Forget it. The whole thing is a politically correct farce.

Probably coming soon to the USA pageants....we're usually a few years behind on the political-correctness / Socialist jackboot curve.

Man, wouldn’t you like to be in a foxhole with her? (During peacetime, of course. During wartime I want the biggest, meanest, ugliest guy around.)

Civilation decline continues in UK. Why for the life of me would anyone watch a beauty contest without a swimsuit contest? Insanity rules.

I don't believe that many will.  After a couple of years of utterly abysmal ratings, the pageant organizers will probably disband the event entirely, citing its 'long history of misogyny, racism and objectification of women'.  The organizers will be cheered by the MSM and various fat, ugly and shrill feminists, and they will be given honorary degrees and chairs from major Universities and will make millions on the lecture circuit.

Young ladies will be deprived of a reference standard of wholesome femininity and more young males will be confused, wondering why Society doesn't honor the obvious magnificence of the female form.

"and now the sports round, which will replace the swimwear in the competition"

I used to joke with potential secretarial candidates "it's gonna come down to the swimsuit competition...."

That was until Political Correctness came in, and the Sensitivity Training Team said that's "harassment"...

LOL

Maybe the "sports round" will be "indoor sports"?Or.....my favorite competition:
