Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter is the first state chief executive to sign a measure requiring his attorney general to sue the federal government if Congress passes health care reform.

Legal experts say the measure, signed Wednesday, will likely be struck down. But Idaho's new law reflects growing frustration with President Barack Obama's health-care proposal.

Legal experts say the measure, signed Wednesday, will likely be struck down.

They should have included a provision saying that no court could strike it down, or that no future Congress could repeal it.

Well if a number of cities can ignore fed laws about illegal immigrants. Maybe if enough people just refuse to abide by the law it will crumble. I would think that millions of people can pull off this act of civil disobedience. Is Nancy gonna lock us all up?

I thought the Constitution restricts law to only apply to interstate trade.... I’m a barking up the wrong tree?

I think the states have been quiet up until now. I think you will see more of this in the next coming days. Governors have publically and privately sending letters to Congressmen warning of the dire situation if this thing is passed or deemed.

I think that the other shoe is beginning to drop. It will be downright silly and ridiculous for congress to “deem” this bill when dozens of states are telling the feds to F___ off and joining the growing chorus of lawsuits.

Actually, me too. It’s probably urinating into a gale, but it’s something.

I know I’m not in one of those 36 states, being in CA and all — bunch of idiots here in Pelosi/Boxer/Feinstein land, to name but a few. There’re all hopey/changey out here, still.

Wait a minute. I thought we had a news article the other day that Virginia was first. But when I saw that I thought actually Arizona was first. That makes 3 “firsts” by now:).

These are good stop-gap measures, I suppose, but I wonder if the American People (representing all states) can sue the Congress.

The argument will be federal preemption. That is, the federal law will preempt the state law.

Sue them? How about we take the majority back in November and then impeach them! Yes Nancy, violating your oath of office might have consequences.

I hope this is the first of many to come.

We here in Virginia are waiting on Gov. McDonnell to sign it in to law. I think it's on his desk.
