They are just po’d that they will have to get a REAL job. Especially when all those cushy taxpayer funded grants dry up.

“. . . what explains the apparent overreaction by scientists and their bunker mentality”

Maybe they think some of them are going to jail.

They had it their way for so long and they thought they would not get caught with all the lies they put out. Now they are ticked that they have been caught lying.

They are angry that Al Gore got the last Nobel Prize to be given because of climate science. The job these people do can be important, but it’s just not sexy to report “cloudy with a chance of rain”.

Really who ever got international renown for saying “everything is ok, we aren’t going to destroy the Earth.”

Where are those lawsuits, with lawyers seeking bounty for all that fed grant fraud?

Just how did Bush “politicize climate science?” As I recall, the U. S. Senate, by something like 90-0 (or was it 95-0?) instructed Pres. Clinton to not even submit the Kyoto protocols for Senate consideration, much less ratification. Was Bush’s continued compliance with that expression of Senate sentiment an act of “politicizing science?”

Isn’t it interesting that this person is stuck on the ‘process’...yet forgets to mention that the SCIENCE doesn’t even pass the most rudimentary of scientific hypothesis. It has been a marxist scam from the very beginning and now that the left wing scientists are ‘found out’...they claim the ‘process’ is bad! Not the ideological root of globull warming that has colored their science from the very beginning.

The ‘process’ is bad or their ‘communication’ was lacking. How soviet of them! How Obamalike.

Sounds like the health care debate to me..except in the reverse. Now the left wants us to believe that the ‘process’ doesn’t matter in the Obama deathcare bill...it’s just how things are done. It’s the ‘sausage’ of legislative ‘norms’...look away..you don’t need to understand that they just threw a few parts of granny in to ‘season’ the federal honey pot.

Isn’t it sad that the left wing has destroyed our belief in science because they have used it(like everything else they touch) to promote an agenda? This is not an honest and true quest for discovery anymore. It is communism coming through any door they can find that is open.

AMERICA IS CLOSING THE BARN DOORS!! SHOW US SOME REAL SCIENCE AND THEN WE WILL SHOW YOU THE MONEY!

They should be careful what they wish for. Promoting "pro-science" candidates is likely to subject that entire dogmatic "climate change" house of cards to scrutiny it cannot withstand.

Let's be honest here. They altered primary data. Ask any scientist in any field what that means. Pointing it out isn't an act of "McCarthyism," it's an act of scientific integrity.

One researcher called for "a relentless rain of science and scientific dialog on the incredible, destructive demagoguery." Another participant urged an "aggressively partisan approach."

If they were concerned about scientific dialog they wouldn't be actively working to silence anyone who has questioned their methods and their data. They wouldn't be promoting conclusions that have no scientific basis that they have been forced to retract.

Their problem is they are using an aggressively partisan approach. And, if you look-up demagoguery, you'll find their mouthpiece Al Gore's picture.

many now see themselves losing a "war" against "anti-science" forces allied with energy companies and the Republican Party

Actual scientists, as opposed to the political activists posing as scientists, need to expel from their ranks anyone who "sees themselves losing a 'war' against... Republicans." That way lies the total politicization of science, and the eventual loss of all credibility with the public.

Scientists need to look at the 17% approval rating awarded to the politicians in Congress, and ask whether that's what they want for themselves. Because if they want it, they can have it. All they have to do is continue transforming themselves into politicians.

Science is about discovering what is. Policy decisions concerning what, if anything, to do about it are not the realm of science. Scientists who would like to continue discovering what is would do well to keep their policy preferences out of their professional lives.

forged during the Bush administration

No Mr Nesbit, I'm proud to say that I have been crying foul against the pseudoscience of anthropogenic global warming since 1987, covering Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, and Obama. All those students I taught think I'm god-like in view of my recent vindication.

Solar maximum will be occurring in about a year and a half to two years, and winters are still wetter and longer. Maybe we’ll see some unusually interesting weather in about seven or eight years.
