Breaking: Stupak Sells Out Because of an Executive Order That Could Be Rescinded Tomorrow

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) has announced his small group of Democrat pro-life voters are swinging their votes to support Obamacare. His reasoning is based on an Obama Executive Order that will supposedly keep the new health care bill from paying for abortions.

Pro-life groups have warned that this move is smoke and mirrors and that the Executive Order is not enough. The Susan B. Anthony list explains:

1. An executive order can be rescinded any time. President Obama could reverse it next week, next month, or next year. Should another pro-abortion president be elected in the future, it could be rescinded on inauguration day.

2. An executive order will not prevent insurance companies that provide abortion from participating in the exchanges.

3. Abortion funding in the health care legislation can be only be removed using the legislative process. An executive order not only doesn’t fix the problem, it isn’t needed to fix the problem, and could not stand a legal challenge.

One thing keeps weighing on my mind. The truly monstrous waste of time that “our” elected representatives have in this bill, which even if it does pass will then generate perhaps even a greater waste “not really” of time attempting to get rid of it or at least the more onerous parts of it. Truly stupid, until one contemplates that at least they weren’t attacking other institutions while they were tied up with this travesty.

Eh, so the flame burns brightly for a moment, is there any HEAT behind it?

Stupak (rhymes with...) was always going to cave, why are people kidding themselves?

An EO is trumped by a law the Congress passes and he, himself the greatest, passes. He know he can EO the tides to not rise, yet rise they will.

A Judge could just as easily overturn the order, leaving Obama Blameless in the eyes of the pro-life Dems. I think that is the plan all along.
