I doubt many of you have missed this so just a ~ping~ for the record.

The States turning up the heat against unconstitutional Øbamacare!

Please ~ping~ me to articles relating to the 10th Amendment/States Rights so I can engage the pinger.

I've stopped monitoring threads and unilaterally adding names to the ping list, so if you want on or off the list just say so.

Any idea about how many states are onboard with this?

Oh. California, I'm sure.

Forgive me asking something that has probably been discussed a lot... I've been very busy and have not been reading FR (or all this thread for that matter).

What are the odds that this takeover of such a huge portion of our economy will result in Civil War II? Maybe not an actual shooting war, but rather a situation in which states just start ignoring federal mandates... and tell congress to "come and take it!".

Contrary to popular belief, Governments derive their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, and it is quite possible for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which connect them to another. Such action is justified whenever any Form of Government is destructive to the Ends of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

At this time in history, it is arguable that the Government of the United States of America is indeed destructive of these Ends.

What is the intended symbolism, or at least your interpretation? I have an idea, but I’ve never seen that before.

“and I also saw something that 38 states could do a Constitutional amendment”

Definitely a bad idea to do that with the politicians we have ‘representing’ us right now.

If I understand correctly, there is an alternative to Congress for doing a constitutional amendment. Two thirds of the states can call a constitutional convention to propose an amendment. Then you have to get the same 3/4 of the states to ratify.

I would love to see this as an end run around our losers in Washington.

If 38 state legislatures are concerned, that’s enough to ratify a Constitutional Amendment. Perhaps that is the correct course of action?

How about this one for the states to push.

A proposed 28th amendment : All states so inclined may secede from the United States with the passage of a unilateral State Act authorizing secession.

Let's do an end run around the Fed.

I once lived in California, and I can tell you that millions of people there are conservatives.

California has 58 counties, and two-thirds of them went “red” in the last two presidential elections.

The coastal counties are the blue lib counties and, unfortunately, that is where a majority of the state’s population lives. That’s how dims carry California in presidential races (since 1992).....the state went Republican before that, except for 1964.

California is the state that gave us Ronald Reagan and Free Republic. I say we take it back from the rats, rather than give it to the Chicoms.

I think this whole thread emphasizes the absolute need to get involved at the local level. Elect good people on the city, county and state level and we can defeat these cretins from Washington.

"I hope and pray that somehow California can be involved in this. I know, this state sucks ass but maybe there is still hope..I don’t want Government Run Health Care..I will leave the damn state if that is what it takes"

I'm sure we will. Remember, FREE REPUBLIC is based in California, born in the furnace of the Clinton years. Contending with the Obama administration is simply chewing the same dirt again.   !

I’m wondering if there’s a Contract Electronics Manufacturer in TX that would hire a consevative like me with 28 years experience. It’s time for me to move.

I’m serious.
