Democrats Death by Suicide
The Washington Times ^ | March 21, 2010 | Editorial

Posted on 03/21/2010 9:01:50 PM PDT by Abakumov

The government takeover of health care will go down in history as the worst piece of legislation to emerge from a Congress held in general disdain by the American people. The only bipartisanship on the health bill was in the opposition.

Usually autopsies are reserved for after the patient has died, but in this case it is useful to get ahead of the matter. The malformed health legislation is not the only reason Democrats are facing political extinction in November, but it is one of the most dramatic. The legislative process in this country has never been so unseemly. Arm twisting, backroom deals, special privileges and potentially criminal "government jobs for votes" agreements became a normal way of doing business. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi fixated on the mantra that the Democrats' health plan is "historic," but so was the Black Plague.

Listening to something about finances and UK debt may get downgraded soon and we are not far behind.

This is history like 9/11 was history. But this was an attack from within, which, I believe, makes it worse.

In the anime series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex there is a story arc that covers about 10 episodes. There are terrorist attack staged to lead to a civil war. One of the first prongs of the attacks is a group called "The Individual Eleven" getting cornered on a rooftop surrounded by news helicopters and a SWAT team coming up the stairs. In full view of the news cameras on the helicopters the "Individual Eleven" get in a circle and each man decapitates at the same instant the man to his right. I think the Democrats have gotten in a circle and done this exact thing to themselves.

With all due respect (and I have the utmost for you, sir), but I doubt even Obama’s dumb enough to believe a simple bill is going to make his wet dream become reality, and I doubt they’re going to hesitate to use their guns (eg, laws) after all the trouble they’ve put into passing it. I’m willing to bet they’ve got something up their sleeve to handle the doctors.

I think it's very likely that we could see a number of current Democrats in Congress lose in the primaries over this highly divisive issue.

How many people are going to try and cross the people now in control of their healthcare?

Our opportunity is in the next two elections (2010 and 2012) -- during which the electorate endures all the costs and obtains none of the benefits.

I am of two minds about this.

The conventional wisdom tells us that an entitlement, once enacted, will never be repealed. Naturally, this is a fearful prospect, and one all conservatives must recognize.

The difference here is that there never has been an entitlement that passed with so little public support. So, this may be the wrong time to say “never.”

On the other hand, the public has a short memory — and those of us who live for politics have to remember that this is the natural state of things, as people have jobs and families and private lives to look after.

It’s possible that an ObamaCare defeat would have robbed the Tea Party movement of its signature issue and a certain amount of momentum going into the November elections.

Now, we can be assured that ObamaCare will continue to dominate nearly every news cycle, especially since most states will be mounting legal challenges.

This will help ensure an informed and motivated electorate come November.

Scratch that ... this will help ensure a royally p****d off electorate come November.

These writers keep forgetting about the other demonstration in D.C. today. The one Islamabama addressed on the giant “big brother” screen. I think it had something to do with immigration reform. That means amnesty for a bunch of democrat voters this November. The democrats are evil and lead by an evil “thing”. They won’t stop just because of some stupid election. It will take much more than that.

"it can’t be denied that there are going to be a lot more people out there hesitant to cross big brother now that they control something like healthcare."

That was the whole idea for the Crim-Coms taking over and remaking our country in their own image. That is why Lenin said for true govt. control, the state must control health care.

I’m all for positive thinking. But I believe unless we admit defeat we’ll never really fight. We have to look at this as a thorough beat down. If we think “this ain’t over”...”we can do something about this”...we won’t do anything about it.

I keep telling people to either calm down or buck up. This is a representative democracy. It’s not the first time in its history that legislation has squeaked through by a narrow margin.

It hurts like hell to be on the losing side, I know. But if you did your best — phoning, faxing, emailing, protesting, contributing — you gave it your all. Now take a breather (you’ve earned it) and get ready for the next political battle: the mid-term elections.

Remember: If, as the analysts are saying, the Dems just committed mass suicide, then our jobs will be that much easier in 2010 and 2012.

To be honest, I get tired of people going all drama queen about this. There are people fighting much tougher fights all over the world. We at least go home to running water and electricity and cable TV.
