Freedom Works Willing to Throw Tea Party Under the Bus to Appease Democrats, Media
Monday, March 22, 2010 | Kristinn

Freedom Works, a Washington, D.C. based advocacy group that latched onto the Tea Party movement last year is now threatening to abandon the grassroots movement in the face of a propaganda onslaught by the Democrat party and the media.

Speaking to Politico, Freedom Works spokesman Adam Brandon said that media reports smearing Tea Party protesters as racists could cause Freedom Works to give up its support for the movement:

"Tattoos last forever,” said Brandon, quoting his boss, FreedomWorks chairman and former House Republican Leader Dick Armey. “If the movement gets tattooed as at all sympathetic to those (racist and homophobic) views, I won’t want to be involved in it anymore. It’s very distracting not only to our side but also to the debate and the country.”

The failure of so-called Tea Party leaders to stand up to the Democrat/Media smear machine this weekend has given the machine an opening to hurt the movement that they are exploiting. From personal experience I know that 99.999 percent of the Tea Party movement are decent people who would not yell the things the Democrat/Media machine is accusing them of yelling. For Freedom Works to talk about shunning them because the Democrats and the media smear them is an insulting betrayal, but to be expected from the inside the Beltway crowd.

Well now we know Freedom Works is a fraud!
If the “Tea Party” movement is dependent on this crap, then the “Tea Party” movement is little more than a bowel movement! IMHO

The problem is that with no one person in charge of the “Tea Party” movement, there is no one to get up and throw the B.S. flag on the liberal/progressive/socialist/communist/Marxist charges of racism.

Everyone should stop using the term "Tea Party." This is a set up. The Americans making 100,000 call an hour to congress were not Tea Partiers. They were real Americans.

The problem is the label. It allows the msm to group and smear us. I think we should just be known as “we the people”....which is what we are.

They're in league with the Dims.

Tea Party is an authentic popular movement, threatens RNC control. So they play a game with the Dims: you do the set up, we'll knock 'em down.

The whole race card gig was a set-up, coordinated with the TV people.

Now the RNC types are back in control, no little people to cause trouble when they make a deal with the thugs.

Fine. Armey is kind of an embarrassment anyway.

OK Dick, what are you going to support?

So if we got somebody with name recognition and called them our "leader" and they stood up and said the same thing all the members of the Tea Party movement are already saying, you believe the media would report the denial and stop spreading the lies?

I don't. They'd be dismissive and ignore the "leader" just as effectively as they ignore the common people.

And I still couldn't care less how the media paints the movement, celebrity leader or not. They are the enemy, I completely expect them to lie about us.

Dick Armey supports amnesty. This is his junction to split from the Tea Party. He got what he wanted from them (us) - name recognition and relevancy in the D.C. establishment. Amnesty is about to hit the fan and Armey wants no part of the Tea Parties anymore.

Moot article, since the ALLEGED incident NEVER happened, at least according to multiple videos of the event show NOTHING of the kind happened. Politico trying to stir up non-existent crap, trying to divide conservative groups—typical Alinsky move! Don’t fall for it!

Thank you, Jeff. I warned people in a speech I gave at the Orlando Tea Party last March to beware of the D.C. based groups—while we appreciate their help, but to not allow them to take over their movement.

Good riddance and nothing of value was lost.

FW is little compared to millions of pissed-off Americans. We will evolve just fine in due time. We don’t need “professional guidance”.

Freedom has inherent risk, by its very nature it’s dangerous.

Dick Armey bailed a long time ago, under questionable circumstances. He has not been a "republican leader" much less a "house republican leader" for a number of years. This so-called advocacy group of his popped up out of nowhere, has done nothing, and likely will wilt and die because nobody cares about it. Rino groups are like that.

The sooner you know who your real friends are, and which ones are fake, the better.

I wasn’t too keen on these guys before. As far as I’m concerned, this finishes them.

When things get rough, a friend is someone who guards your back.
