State considers joining suit against health reform (Alaska)

JUNEAU -- Gov. Sean Parnell calls newly passed federal health care legislation unconstitutional and "public policy at its worst." His attorney general is reviewing the measure to determine if the state may join others in suing over the issue, though a Department of Law spokesman cautioned against a rush to judgment.

"For the many Alaskans currently unable to afford insurance, this legislation will do nothing but require that they purchase health insurance," he said. "This bill will increase insurance premiums and do very little to ensure that patients have access to needed health care professionals."

Sean is running for Gov-en-nator - doubtful how he will do in the Primary. His own people stab him in the back - note the 'caution' from his own Dept of Law.

Sean P - the "Me too" Gov.

No thanks. I would rather have some leadership..... something in short supply these days.

I hope more states and more people join in this potential lawsuit to get rid of this law.

Well, that would require - leadership, not politicians.
Something Alaska has been pretty short of for some time.

Elections coming up, maybe we’ll get lucky.

I just emailed mine asking her if she going to stand with the constitution or against it concerning the unconstitutional health care.

Being as how I’m in IL I think I already know the answer.

Well, FWIW, my entire delegation voted against the HC bill.

And so despite all of his faults (or maybe because of them) Don has my vote next go aroud.

- This Bill (Law) is not equally applied to all States (”sweetheart deals”, exemptions), therefore, it violates the Constitution’s “equal protection clause”.

- Not only is there a Federal mandate that citizens must buy health insurance, the Bill requires citizens be FINED if they DON’T buy insurance. Unlike auto insurance where one can choose not to drive and therefore not buy insurance nor be penalized for that, this Bill redefines health care as a right, not a priviledge (as driving is).

- Student loans. The Government has no right to restrict the intent of a bank loan, student or otherwise..

- Although Medicare is an entitlement program, the Gov’t doesn’t REQUIRE citizen’s purchase it, nor penalize them if they don’t.

..Anyone care to add to my list? I’m sure there’s more!

I had another poll couple days back. I told them I'd support Young forever, just as I would have Stevens. You feel safe with them, no matter what dirt comes out. Remember all the lower 48ers on FR that hated Uncle Teddy. I wish he was still in power. I can't bring myself to trust Lisa and hope somebody runs against her and wins in primary.

Told the poll people couldn't wait for Begich recall. Told them tea parties been happening in Ak for years and I didn't even hate the slickster as much as I detest Obama.

Sure wish Palin was still in charge.

Parnell is screwin the dog, and blowin his chances; now that's depressing too. We do need a real leader.

Did you see the rising costs in Denali Kid Care? Now that's what we will see nationwide.

Been down to minus 25 at daybreak last few days; ready for ice out actually.

I live in Alaska, and lately its a liberal civil war brewing up here. The liberals which are mostly in big city Anchorage are crying and repeating Obamas mantra over and over saying what a blessing Obamacre will be for them.

basically Anchorage for its sizable liberal population is calling Parnell an idiot while the rural folks (moi included)are taking a conservative stand. Anchorage outbumbers the whole state including Fairbanks for its population, but Alaska is one heckuva big state.

I honestly wish these IRS agents do approach me and my family with handcuffs when we refuse to be part of the socialized healthcare pogrom.

Its too expensive in air fair o fly somewhere warmer, lodging and food is expensive.

We don’t have enough prison space up here for the hundreds of thousands that will refuse to pay, all I have to do is time it so they haul me off to a warm Arizona prison during our long winter and I could almost live with that.

But here is reality, already i have discussed at my business how to find loopholes in dodging this, all our employees that get hired may have to belong to a church, we have some very good Russian ones up here, and then they can claim amnesty.

We also have other options like just letting the IRS take it from our PFD.

I thought I seen a poll a couple of days ago showing that Parnell was doing quite well. Am I mistaken? One thing is sure, by taking a stand on this health care issue he is making me happy. If he had not done this I would not have supported him, but now I am willing to support him. The concept that Parnell is just following along with this thing to make political points is a bunch of crap. I want as many states fighting this thing as we can get, and I don’t care about who the first states where that got on board. At this point in our history the enemy of our enemy is are friend, and people do not have to support Parnell to support his actions on this health care challenge.

You hated it when Palin was Gov. You're a hard man to please. Frank Murkowski is tan, rested and ready. Call him up.

Either him or Art Chance would be my picks. Alaska deserves only the best.

Mitt has his own brand of stupid.

As a businessman, he was successful - that doesn’t always translate into politics, as so often is the case.
