WASHINGTON - Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson has been hospitalized with what doctors believe is a bacterial infection, according to the Georgia lawmaker's office.
Isakson, 65, began feeling ill and dehydrated Monday and was admited to a Georgia hospital for treatment.
"Senator Isakson is responding very well to the treatment and is feeling much better," said spokeswoman Joan Kirchner. "He met this morning with his Senate chief of staff at the hospital and hopes to be back at work soon."

“...the governor, who is, in this case, a republican...”

Well, sort-a kind-a a republican, anyway.
dude. I was joking.
With all of the crap that's in this HC bill, I wouldn't have put it past the RATs to do something that unconstitutional.
sarcasm????
stupid question maybe, but now days you never know!!
Prayers to this good man for a quick recovery.
I haven’t read a print edition of the AJC since we movd back in 98. I only access the online pages to see an obituary or follow a local story which interests me.
If Barnes is allowed back in office GA will follow Obama with nary a whimper.
Just fixing my tagline
Prayers up.
I question the timing.
I felt ill Monday, too, as did most of us.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Senator.
Good grief. It was a joke. Satire. ;)
Took him to the good clinic and not the government one?
Zell has the distinction of being the last good Democrat Senator to serve in the Senate.
I would, too. I was angry when Barnes appointed him, but he turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Zell is a straight shooter. He was a Friend of Bill, but when he got to the Senate, he became so disillusioned by what he saw his party doing that he simply didn’t want to run again (even though he would have been elected overwhelmingly). He preferred to go home to Young Harris, GA, teach some college classes, and play with his grandchildren.
I would be that Zell Miller is appalled by what his party has done in the past year.
I would agree with that assessment, although I would have put Joe Lieberman in that category, as well.
Barnes is running again?! How did I miss that????
Yikes.
Prayers for Senator Isakson and his family.
Does anybody know if there’s been any update on his condition?
Joe is, IMHO, a Democrat John McCain. Overall, I don’t care for the man. Nor do I care for McCain. The USA would be better off if they would retire, IMHO.
Prayer bump
