Thanx, man. Frank Chodorov is a national treasure. A mindful libertarian. Pick up his book, Figitive Essays if you can find it.

A long, long time ago, the King's Men wore red coats and marched through town. Patriots could figure out what to do.

A long time ago, states below the Mason Dixon line had laws that the folks up north didn't like. The Blue coats crossed the line and killed people wearing grey coats, and they also burned down farms when they felt like it too. Patriots knew where they stood and they knew what to do (on both sides).

Today, it's harder for a patriot to know what to do.

But I look on the flip side as well: If Texas (for example) were to quietly secede, would the federal government want to send troops into Texas and start shooting people? Yes, the federal government would want that. But with our current 21st century sensibilities, how many people in the 49 remaining states -- and how many people wearing the uniform, who have sworn to uphold the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic -- how many people would REALLY approve of marching into Texas and shooting people?

Our task is a hard one.
But their task is equally hard.

I think secession would work -- and if two separated states (Texas and Virginia?) were to do it, then I think the federal task would be much harder.

For better or worse, our country cannot do Antietam or Gettysburg again. The people won't stand for it. And that makes freedom a little easier to come by, I think.

Not a good idea, the other side will use this as proof our side is eager for a bloody war.

My husband suggested that all conservative men start growing beards so we can recognize each other.

...Well, at least hide your tattoo, take out your earrings and remove your fingernail polish so we don’t confuse you for a lib. ;)

True, but lots of people paid in more than what they will ever get out of it - the scam aspect (it’s broke) does not change that.

We'll have it whether we want it or not. The other choice is to submit to those who hold the rule of law and our constitution in utter contempt. That won't go well, either. Never has.

But then there are a number of people who receive more than they paid into it.

Read the 1798 Kentucky and New Hampshire resolutions, they basically were declaring such.

As was the attempted New Hampshire resolution they were looking at passing again last year.

In many ways we did- but there are still reasons to not split apart.

Yet.

Well, it will be hard to determine who is friend and who are the communists. Gettysburg, hell no! It would be more like Ho Chi Mihn type tactics.

Looking for legit answer. If a majority of States elected to secede would it be possible or preventable?
I’m not advocating secession.

I believe that there are a few states that will become more amenable to secession in the coming years. I firmly believe that the US is too big, too diverse, and too divided to function as one nation, and I think the toothpaste is too far out of the tube to be replaced.

I fear you may be right. Centrifugal forces may tear the United States apart. If that happens, the results will not be pretty.

That is why I would not do anything that might hasten the process. I believe the nation can be saved and that it is worth saving.

...those lonely, individual hills we’re will to die upon.

Hopefully, if it comes to pass, next to a large pile of expended brass.
