PHOENIX (AP) — The Arizona Senate on Tuesday gave preliminary approval to legislation that would make Arizona the third state allowing people to carry concealed weapons without a permit.

The Senate approved the measure in a voice vote, setting the stage for a formal vote. Passage would send it to the House.

The measure would make it legal for any U.S. citizen 21 or older to carry a concealed weapon in Arizona without the permit now required. Currently, carrying a hidden firearm without a permit is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $2,500...

Better to be judged by 12, than carried by six.

I thought that the committee agreed that 18 and older had this right. I am sending my daughters off to college next year intending to arm them under this rule change. Why is it 21 and older. A soldier serving in the military would not be able to enjoy this knew freedom. Hopefully this is just an incramental change.

I see no provision in it that outlaws carrying a concealed weapon if you are a felon. Now I’m all for Joe average citizen being able to carry. I carry, both my kids carry. But I’m not at all certain that a convicted felon should be allowed to carry. One of the rights you should lose when you commit a felony is the right to carry a firearm.

Does this law allow felons to carry?

And what difference do you suppose it makes to bar felons from carrying concealed? If the guy is a FELON why would he worry about the legality of carrying? Besides felons are generally barred(legally, not really) from possession of firearms anyway and I rather doubt this law would change that. If a felon is carrying then he is in possession.

Agreed with post 13, they are probably prohibited from firearm ownership.

At one time, Freepers were upset because of the licensing procedure. You know, why should we need to have a license for our Second Amendment Rights. The answer to that is to take them back the way they were taken. Luckily Heller and hopefully, McDonald will be giant steps.

Felons are not allowed to own firearms in any I know of. They can't pass the background checks, therefore they can't own one, hence they can't carry one.

BTW, if a felon wants to carry it will do it without anyone's permission. Criminals make their living by breaking the law, they couldn't care less about a law restricting their right to own and carry firearms.

This is a point liberal law makers never seem to grasp, or don't want to grasp.

The scripts are ready. If they change the law, I’ll have an updated map up by the end of the day.
