...it could well be wise for all moslems to be excluded from the Armed Forces for the time being.

Well, FDR did that with U.S. citizens of Japanese origin and never got any flack for it. Eventually they were allowed to fight in Europe, where their units received the highest honors for valor.

Your recommendation makes sense, as it would avoid problems like the one documented in the story, even though I am suspicious of the source (WaPo)!

That won't happen in today's PC environment, as I am sure any intelligent FReeper can surmise. And the vile name calling in the first two posts (and likely more to follow) make me ashamed to be associated with those particular posters. Vulgar, unjustified displays of animosity toward individual Muslims does NOT amount to patriotism! Nor to common decency.

1) Unjustified? Hardly.

2) My comments weren’t about patriotism. They are about self-preservation. Muslims as a group ARE vermin. They prove it daily.

You’re entitled to your opinion, and I’m entitled to mine. The facts seem to bear me out, but maybe you’re not into common sense. Maybe you enjoy seeing innocent soldiers murdered by muslims in your back yard. Or perhaps it’s OK to lose innocent civilians minding their own business to terrorists, as long as it’s just a few thousand. And you can always look the other way when 99.99999% of the muslim scum refuse to denounce the murderers among them — or do you want to argue that point as well?

You have your view, I have mine. Sleep on it.

You have a very good point, ARFAR regarding ‘vulgar displays of animosity’ and I join you in your suspicion of the motives of the source!

But are they really unjustified? History and recent events say otherwise.

Unfortunately the individual makes up the collective and until the individual Muslim-American (note the Muslim always come first) takes a stand and loudly speaks out, condemning the actions of the collective - i.e. the terrorist acts condoned and sanctioned by Islam, they will forever be subject to these types of verbal attacks.

You don’t see American citizens forming terror cells and attacking Mecca...
