Army General Admonished for Advocating for Gay Ban By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: March 25, 2010 WASHINGTON (AP) -- The military's top uniformed officer has publicly admonished a three-star Army general for urging troops to speak out against allowing gays to serve openly.
Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Thursday that Lt. Gen. Benjamin Mixon, who heads Army forces for U.S. Pacific Command, was wrong to call on troops and their families to fight a repeal of the military's ''don't ask, don't tell'' policy.
Mullen said if uniformed officers disagree with President Barack Obama's call for a repeal, the answer for them is ''to vote with your feet.''

This is beginning to sound like the Sergeant Woolridge case from back during the Nam. He had a sweet deal going where the winning vendors at the service clubs paid him a nickel for every bag of pretzels or potato chips.
That guy was the Sergeant Major of the Army, and I always wondered who got the concession when he got fired and punished. Probably drifted around a few years and then some officer grabbed hold of it ~ so is that what we have with this guy?

...easy for a flag officer to say...but not so easy for say an O-5 that’s got 17 years in and is 3 short of the 20 he needs for retirement....or maybe is over 20 and trying for 25.

I’m beginning to think Mullen might have gotten “really close” to some of his shipmates when moving up through the ranks, hence his support for 0bamao’s policy.

I thought Mike Mullen was a loser under Bush, and certainly a loser now.
I doubt Mullen is Queer.
I also doubt his integrity.
He is willing to watch the Navy he has been with for so many years go down the tubes just to suck up to Obama.
I have seen this before. Men who would sell out the job and his friends, and co-workers for the next promotion or to keep the one they have. They are Sons of bitche’s ,but there is nothing that can be done as long as they keep Brown-nosing. I don’t know anything about Mullen’s Navy career, but I would bet this isnt the first time he has sold out.
I don’t know about Mullen, but I believe he has misplaced loyalties - putting career ahead of Duty, Honor, Country. I have absolutely no respect for him, and particularly Gates.

Not necessarily. As I understand it, in order to retire with more than 2 stars it has to be approved by congress.
During the Clinton years, people around here were disappointed because flag officers were not resigning/retiring. lol
