As Christians prepare to observe Holy Week when Jesus was betrayed, Sullivan calls Stupak's justification for supporting the legislation "the course of Judas." He is exactly right!

It does look like Stupak will get another chance to vote on health care. It’s his choice...if he wants to still be in Congress in 2011.

CHICAGO - Congressman Bart Stupak’s invitation to deliver the keynote speech at next month’s Illinois Catholic Prayer Breakfast has been withdrawn.

Too bad. Perhaps he will be invited to speak at Georgetown University. Or Notre Dame. Or some other Catholic University.
They seem to have no problem with pro-abortion politicians.

He held in his hands a power to help protect innocent life. He never meant to do it and he never really cared.

It goes without saying that the liberals despise him as well.

I can’t help wondering what Stupak thought would happen? He can’t honestly believe an EO would have amounted to anything. The bill got 219 votes - he could have stood by his supposed principles and it still would have passed. But why make such a big deal out of being pro-life, of the Stupak Amendment, of making grandiose statements about the sanctity of life, only to turn around and throw it all away at the last minute?
Obviously the man is a snake - but this issue is so important to so many people, and he’d positioned himself very publicly as being on the pro-life side - that I can’t even begin to understand why he would commit political and moral suicide like he has.
Yes, I know Obama gave his state something like $400,000 - but that’s chump change by Obama standards. And doesn’t begin to account for such a jaw-dropping 360, or such a lame lame excuse for it.
