AZ-Sen. 2010: McCain calls for civility in health care debate (McCain wants to "respect" Rats)

Washington (CNN) – Sen. John McCain called for a more civilized political discourse on Monday after members of Congress who voted for health care reform reported incidents of harassment and threats of violence.

"There is a lot of anger and passion out there," McCain said on CNN's "John King USA." "Let's change that into a spirited and healthy respectful campaign season between Republicans and Democrats, liberals and conservatives. Let's really go at it, but let's do it with respect, that's the key to it."

McCain noted that he has held thousands of town hall meetings during his long political career. "The only thing I ask people to do is be respectful," he said.

The Arizona Senator wasn't so optimistic about the future of bipartisanship among legislators in Washington. The prospects for immigration reform or financial regulatory reform appear dim, he said, because Democrats have failed to reach across the aisle since President Obama took office.

Why do Republicans do this? It makes them look stupid and guilty. The whole Healthcare bill was an uncivil act. It is 2500+ pages of threats aimed squarely at our liberty and our individual sovereignity. The bill is not only irresponsible but foolish given the economic state of this country. It is the ultimate selfish poltical act that places the very well being and the future of this country at risk. If we can not be angry at this then what will be enough for us to stand up and stop these servants of the beast?

No, John.

That’s what got us here in the first place.

Let’s tear em to pieces and rip em a new one.

r385, Indeed you are the beacon of light in the darkness of RINO-ism and your constant vigilence in keeping the spotlight on this buzzard is greatly appreciated.

Well put....and I share the same, thanks rabs! Appreciate keeping the watch on McAmnesty

In August we can get some leadership instead of bipartisanship

Yeah, let’s be respectful John. That’s what got us where we are.....trying to deal with the Demonrats, reaching out, crossing the aisle and all that crap! What is it that you and your fellow moderates (liberals) don’t get about the Demonrats??? They’d sell their souls to the devil for power and working with the Republicans ain’t on their agenda. You lost the election because you were respectful (stupid) and chose not to expose BO for what he really is so excuse me if I don’t take your advice. I have a 14 year old granddaughter whose opinion I trust more.

Let the CONSERVATIVE Republican leadership know that we support Sen Jim DeMint by signing his Repeal ObamaCare Pledge.

Don’t let the RINO’S define us.

165,000 folks have made the pledge!!!!

Are the rats considerate to those with differing opinions? NO! Was McLame considerate to those of us who wanted the fence put up between the US and Mexico? NO! I seem to recall us being called “racist” because we oppose amnesty. I have the privilege of voting AGAINST this jerk. I hope that he is kicked to the curb once and for all, and takes his moronic daughter with him as well.

All McCain seems to have learned in politics is “Thank you sir may I have another?”

". . . respectful campaign season between Republicans and Democrats, liberals and conservatives"
I am not going to "respect" anyone that does not "respect" the constitution. Much less you pukes that swear (via oath) to protect and defend the constitution. I'm sending more $$ to JD now. I'm praying that this is your (McCain) last session in the senate douche bag!!

McCain and his shadow, Lindsey G., will crawl over broken glass to cooperate with the Dems.

My guess is that many Dems laugh at McCain behind his back...some to his face.

“”The only thing I ask people to do is be respectful,” he said.”
Those days are long past, mclame. I refuse to be respectful to the destroyers of my country. You can kiss their a$$es if you like, up to election day when you get the boot.

May it be so.

One of the privileges of living in AZ is that I'll get to vote against McCain in the primary. I plan to savor that moment.
