doesn't appear that it was an onboard munitions explosion . . .

Probably a “random” mine.

another source this morning saying the explosion was not “internal” . . . also, this article leaves more room open for the possibility this was N. Korea related
A South Korean Navy officer who spoke on condition of anonymity said that it is not likely that the vessel sank after an internal explosion.
The officer did not rule out the possibility of an attack by the North.

NoKor isn’t involved? Bull-obama!
Who else would be actively mining that area of the Yellow Sea; the al-Qaeda navy?

Even if the Norks didn’t do it, when they go around breathing threats and murder like they do, they shouldn’t be surprised when people look at them first.

Probably a random mine.
Random mines are a well documented feature — they pop up at the most unexpected times - scientists are investigating this as we speak - one leading theory connects these events with global climate change known to be caused by a former US President...

This is all so much BS . . . I think the S. Koreans are going to have a hard time though sweeping a sunken major naval combatant that lost about half the hands on deck under the rug.

There's one way to find out: look at the hole on the side of the ship where the explosion occurred. If the hole bends in, we need to consider a mine or torpedo impact; if the hole bends out, then we need to consider a weapon inside the ammunition hold detonated by accident.

i am sure we have enough naval mics in that area to know it was a torpedo or not... my bet it was,and obama is making them stand down.

Somehow the maoist will blame this on Bush.
After all, only yesterday he was suggesting that by reaching the nuke deal with russia it would be ending a signal to the North Koreans and Iran that we are setting the example.

Probably a sea mine dropped in World War II or less likely in the Korean War, since there were no significant naval clashes at that time.
From the colonization of 1910 through to the Japanese surrender in 1945, Korea was ruled by Japan, and in a harshly brutal manner.
I'd hypothesize that the mine which sank the ROKS Cheonan was laid by the Japanese in WWII.
