The lonely leader for immigration reform legislation among Senate Republicans, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, is chafing at what he views as the White House's unwillingness to put political muscle behind the effort.
"The president promised to pass an immigration reform bill in his first year. They’ve done almost nothing in the White House on immigration," Graham said Sunday on NBC's "Meet The Press."
While the White House has been urging Graham and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to craft legislation and bring it to President Barack Obama, a frustrated Graham seemed to want to flip that process around.
"I urge the president to write a bill and see if he can get another Republican, see if he can convince the 16 Democrats who voted no last time," Graham said bitterly. "Let him do some heavy lifting here on immigration. ... Write a bill and send it to me. I'll be glad to look at it."

I thought he said any action on immigration is dead this year because of the way the Democrats rammed health care through.

I frustrated my better half this AM while I vocally chastised Lindsey Graham for his lack of conservative directive on FOX.
Me thinks us conservatives are going to prevail within the republican party in the long run.

If I try to think of anyone I hate more than the muslim, it’s Graham. And since I know as a Christian I’m not supposed to hate anyone I’ve convinced myself that Obama ain’t human. He’s a muslim and all muslims are animals. Now I’ve got to come up with a rationalizaton for hating Graham.

This may sound like a naive question but I seriously don’t know so if you could explain this to me that would be great. I get why the Dems want amnesty for illegals, 18 million + new Dem voters, what I don’t get is why Graham and others in the GOP want amnesty for illegals, do they not get that even if they are given amnesty, they will vote Democrat. Dems are just using illegals so they have a political edge at the voting box, but Republicans, what do they gain by having illegals given amnesty..
Sounds like McCain this week, when he was bemoaning that union-influenced Obama didn’t want to do a guest worker program. (This in a time of 20% real unemployment!) Most distressingly, Palin was sitting right there and said there was absolutely no difference between her and McCain’s positions on illegal immigration.

Very distressing.
Why is there always this assertion that the amnesty
will only result in democrat voters? The republicans
have an ability to reach out and convince new citizens
as well (ok so maybe not as effectively)as the democrats.
Hispanic citizens have a strong work ethic and will want
to keep what they earn just like everyone else.
Just sayin.
