That’s where the clean coal that Bill Clinton put off limits so Freeport MacMoran of New Orleans could profit from their Indonesian Coal mines. YES PEOPLE, we are buying coal from Indonesia instead of UTAH to fuel COGEN plants because Bill Clinton was bought and paid for.
Is it a surprise?

More than 60% of Utah is owned by the U.S. government, and policy makers complain that federal ownership hinders their ability to generate tax revenue and adequately fund public schools...
Mine coal...for the children! :-)

Go Utah. States need to push back or risk becoming mere janitorial services for the federal Leviathan.

Sure wish they had started these actions years ago. They might have gotten on the docket by now.

One of my ancestors sold off most of Indiana to farmers and townsmen moving in from elsewhere. He sold both major grants (Clark, Lee, etc.) and federal claims in the region.
Of course that land had value for agriculture ~ except for the vast swamp South of Fort Wayne (the Limberlost) ~ that wasn't sold off until he'd been dead most of a century.
Utah is more like the Limberlost. Might have some value but it couldn't be realized until a later century ~ which may be now. The decisions regarding release of federal claims to that land should be subjected to extensive review. Certainly any state can give better attention to it's own land than can a remote federal agency.

Where in the Constitution does it allow for the federal govât to take 60% of a states land with no say so from the states?

The federal government shouldn’t be allowed to own any land outside of Washington DC. Anything else it has a legitimate need for, it should lease from states or private parties. There’s absolutely no reason a major military base can’t be run on land held under a long term lease from the state it’s located in.

Gary Herbert is an awesome Governor. He would be a great National politician. He is great at speaking ‘off the cuff.’ Oh yes, and he is conservative!
