Did Barack Obama inspire one of his donors to threaten a top GOP lawmaker?
Norman Leboon, Sr, the man reported to have been arrested for making a death threat video against House Minority Whip Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Cantor's family is listed by the Federal Elections Commission as having made two donations to the presidential campaign of Barack Obama in 2008.
According to the FEC, the donations were made on successive days in June 2008, on the 20th for $255 and on the 21st for $250. There are no other federal election campaign contributions listed for Leboon.
Just a week before Leboon made his contributions, Obama spoke in Leboon's hometown of Philadelphia on June 13, where he urged his supporters to "bring a gun" to the political battles against their opponents:
" If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun. Because from what I understand, folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans."
In September 2008, Obama told his supporters to argue with his opponents and get in their faces.

That photo of his kids (who look like they may still be under 21) seems a bit over the top, for instance. Leboon hasn’t even been put on trial yet, much less found guilty. His kids still deserve some privacy.

I’m with you on being sure the right person has been identified. That’s why I make a point of following links and/or doing my own digging around.
And that’s what I love about FR. Nothing’s taken for granted. And in this case, it’s verified, hands down.

Crazy people do irrational things. This guy is nuttier than a Stuckey's Pecan Log. Their attention span for some things is short, and they persevorate on others.
The guy went to an Obama rally, falls in love with Obama and makes a donation. Nothing else catches his attention the next day, so he still loves Obama and makes another donation.
On the third day, maybe Nickelodeon was playing a Ren and Stimpy marathon that captured his attention and Obama was forgotten. Or maybe with his newfound love for Obama, the nut goes on the net to learn more about him, his religious affiliations and mentors. That sucks him in for months, or whatever length of time, and he decides to go the Jeremiah Wright route and make his own hate videos.
Crazy people are unpredictable and it's difficult to figure out rationale for their actions

aI’m totally with you. A skeptic by nature, every story that sounds too good or conclusion reached super-fast makes me want to backtrack and examine its suppositions.
Like this guy ... FWIW, TPM is reporting that Leboon was an equal-opportunity crazy-threat maker:

He probably is ticked because he doesn't think Obama and his cronies have gone far enough.
And I get the feeling a lot of the "attacks" against other Dems are people of like mind. The tactics they've used are way too similar to the lefties' tactics used against the Pubbies during Bush's terms as President.
I'm just glad they've gotten this guy off the streets. From what I've seen of his postings, he could go off in a split second and seriously hurt, or kill, someone.
