Who Is David Brian Stone, Leader Of The Hutaree Militia?
Christian Science Monitor via Yahoo News ^ | 30 Mar 2010 | Will Buchanan

Posted on 03/30/2010 6:05:14 AM PDT by edpc

Members called him "Captain Hutaree" or, somewhat cryptically, "RD." A federal indictment calls him the “principal leader” of the Hutaree militia – an extremist group federal authorities say was preparing to "levy war" against the US government by killing police officers.

He is David Brian Stone, and early media accounts sketch a portrait of a man pulled increasing toward the militia movement and its radical fringe. His ex-wife said she left him because he "got carried away." Federal authorities allege that he researched how to build roadside bombs on the Internet. And at least one neighbor said the group that Mr. Stone leads had acquired a certain notoriety around town.

"You don't mess with them," she told the Detroit News.

Hutaree militia arrests: Why the number of militias has tripled since 2008

Monday morning, federal authorities released an indictment against Stone and eight other members of the Hutaree militia. They allege that Stone and his followers were planning an attack sometime in April, perhaps killing an police officer then targeting the funeral with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to raise the death toll. The group saw the police as the arm of a US government, which they felt was the enemy. [Editor's note: IEDs were described incorrectly in the original version of this paragraph.]

To this administration, "Christian" militia groups with guns and IEDs are dangerous, but Twelvers seeking nukes is just something we have to accept.

and Nigerians with Yemeni tourism interests, al Qaeda membership, and exploding underpants are isolated extremists

as are Army doctors who loudly comment about admiring jihad and wanting to cut off heads and kill infidels among fellow US army troops

According to another article, the reason the FBI acted is...

"Federal prosecutors acted in recent days because they say Hutaree planned a secret reconnaissance exercise next month.

A secret reconnaissance excercise....how seditious!!! Can't have people training on secret reconnaissance. Because it starts with secret reconnaissance and then one day someone does a spy operation to break in and photograph the birth certificates.

In fairness the article does go on to say...

According to the indictment, anyone who happened on the exercise could be killed if he or she didn't acquiesce to Hutaree demands.

But it certainly doesn't sound like they were about to kill a cop.

Isn’t it fascinating that the FBI, ATCE and the Justice Department have had this group under close surveillance since August of 2008?

Too bad nobody in the Department of the Army did the same thing with Major Nidal before he killed all of those people at Ft. Hood...

Curiouser and curiouser...

There's nothing "curious" about it. This is their typical modus operandi.

Think about the Alinski Rules, mix in a little "problem/reaction/solution", and the timing of this "event" starts to look REALLY damn suspicious for even the thinnest of tinfoil wearers.

This is a SET UP. Look for something really noxious out of Congress soon to try and "combat the problem".

Heaven forbid there could be an organized militia willing to fight an usurped government.

And to heap more injury from the falsetto whine from the wrong-wingers is that this militia was christian and was a threat to Muslims.

Bizarro world, Muslim POTUS uses his powers to stomp opposition. Demonize the extremist, who is next Orly, Sarah, Rush?

I bet Vegas bookies know.

Just for fun, go over to any of the many Survival forums out there, and see how many different contingency operation discussions there are about how to deal with a similar scenario.

What is the second Amendment about?? It gives us the means to protect ourselves from the Government.

What’s most disturbing is the number of people who feel threatened by that sentiment even though it is a bedrock principle that has kept us going this long.

It only takes one careless remark, made in front of the right person, and reported to the authorities out of context to start the ball rolling. I have to wonder if that’s not the case here, coupled with an FBI SAIC who just seriously overstepped his bounds in order to satisfy his own personal agenda.

I’ve seen no evidence of an actual crime committed here. Only Tom Cruise fights crimes that have not yet been committed, and that was only in the movies...

Wow I wonder how many are actually “members” of this sedtious group.

Also, we have known terrorists, Muslims, in society who are PROVEN terrorists.

Now we know where this Admins priorities are.
Muslims are hands off.

I really don’t know what to think about this group. If they really are what the feds are claiming, that would be a shame and as I feared, some nut-job will give them the excuse they need to hammer tea-partiers as lunatics and radicals.

If, on the other hand. this is a set up, a put up, it’s the same thing. It’s the beginning of the radicalization of any legitimate dissent.

Let’s make sure we enforce our second amendment rights, but let’s keep em holstered.

My sentiments, precisely..... except I am curious whether there is ANY surveillance currently occurring among individuals in America who are most likely to commit major terrorist attacks??? OR... is all the security surveillance manpower being deployed against 7-member rural militias, active tea partiers and FR posters??????

I frankly worry about who is giving orders about whom to surveil....

According to the indictment, David Stone researched IEDs on the internet and e-mailed diagrams of the devices to someone he believed capable of manufacturing the devices.

Good thing he used that supersecret secure communication tool called email....

as I said, Bill Ayers was the brains, he sent others with weaker minds out to do the wet work for the WU

classic terrorist operation, the brains at the top always consider themselves too valuable to actually die for the cause, that is for others lower in the hierarchy

I wonder if the ACLU will run to defend these people? Perhaps some of Eric Holder’s old law firm buddies will represent them...or do they just like to represent jihadi terrorists? Inquiring minds want to know.

Just like it is illegal to announce death threats, it also is illegal to plot or conspire to kill police.

I guess this is it then. Guns are clearly too dangerous and must be banned. Argument over!

The criminalisation of conservatism edges ever closer.

Well our government is profiling Christian conservatives, using the FBI, and DHS, ATF and ICE. It refuses to profile Muslim Islamofascists, it actually refuses to use the word "Islamofacist."

Our government therefore is becomeing "fascist." It must destroy conservatives in order to attain absolute power, as Fascists had to do in Germany and Italy prior to WWII.

How do we stop the Obama fascist Junta? We reject their profiling of conservatives and Christians, we denounce and expose it, we ridicule them, and we vote them out of office.
