Iran is poised to begin producing nuclear weapons after its uranium program expansion in 2009, even though it has had problems with thousands of its centrifuges, according to a newly released CIA report.
"Iran continues to develop a range of capabilities that could be applied to producing nuclear weapons, if a decision is made to do so," the annual report to Congress states.
A U.S. official involved in countering weapons proliferation said the Iranians are "keeping the door open to the possibility of building a nuclear weapon."

I’m sure Iran’s peaceful nuclear energy program will benefit from the upcoming improved relations with the Obama administration.
“The head of International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano, on Tuesday expressed frustration with his failure to persuade Iran to speak openly about its nuclear intentions.”
Yep, IAEA will endorse sanctions just as soon as Iran openly announces its intentions to build nuclear bombs to wipe Israel off the map. This is an agency for which “connecting the dots” apparently is not part of their SOP.
“I wonder if well need medical care after the first Islamofascist nuke goes off in NYC and DC?”
I can see it now. A nuke goes off and our dear leader boasts about having gotten health care reform in place just in time to deal with the casualties...
By next fall, as unemployment continues to hover around 10% and/or if there’s a 9/11 (or worse) type of attack on the U.S., the already outraged voters will be boiling over in fury as they ponder the opportunity cost of Obama’s having squandered so much of Washington’s time on health reform when he should have been keeping his eye on the ball.
“if a decision is made to do so”
Framing it this way makes it sound as if CIA’s intelligence is so fine-grained and accurate that they will know when this decision is made. In truth, the decision may well have already been made. In light of literally decades of “misunderestimates” of the capabilities and intentions of leaders in the Soviet Union, Iraq and Iran, one would think the CIA might exhibit a little more humility in its assessments. Hopefully the classified version of their report highlights the uncertainty in these estimates and concedes that this decision now is in the past rather than the future.
Sanctions???
LOL - as someone earlier posted, "Sanction, Schmanctions!!"
However, anything that gives Israeli and any of her true allies time & support to dismantle the Iranian nuke project is GOOD.
