Well, my “gun broker” (the friend of mine who buys and sells guns online once or twice a month, as a hobby) will be joining my wife and I tonight for our usual weekly game night; I’m going to ask him to be looking for the Charter Arms .38 for me, but I’ll tell him he can also look for a used (i.e., cheaper) S&W as an alternative. Thanks both!
