If a person cannot be trusted with FULL citizenship after being “parolled” or released from custody,

he shouldn’t be released from custody.

Remember years ago, how they would make a woman where a big red A on her dress if she was an adulterer? Well, any sex offender, and should have to do the same, including a big mark on their house our apartment. Especially if they have raped or sexually abused a child.

Call the local newspaper. If they report on it I’m sure that will get the attention of the authorities.

Did everybody in the neighborhood get the same letter? Ask them. Then get together and all of you go to the DA office and demand that the law be enforced.............

Invest in a chipper-shredder, a bottle of ether, and locate a nearby catfish pond.

Level 3 Sex Offenders

Where the Board determines that the risk of reoffense is high and the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that a substantial public safety interest is served by active dissemination, it shall give a level 3 designation to the sex offender.

Fight this...hard...get your neighbors together...these animals are defective and need to be way away from kids...like the North pole...they WILL revert.

What you can do is to make certain you know where your children are at all times and that they are protected. There is a glut of these kinds of vermin all over this country and more than fifty percent aren’t even documented. Whatever it is that drives these people overrides any sense of decency and any fear of being prosecuted. Having your children under your control or under the control of someone you know and absolutely trust is imperative. They can disappear in a flash and you’ll likely never see them alive again.

The DA is an elected official. Call his office and tell him you will have every media person out 2 weeks before he is running for office if he lets this happen. Tell him 2 WEEKS before.

If someone can’t pay their sentence free and clear they should stay locked up. If a child molester or rapist is deemed to have paid his debt to society, then he should be released with no restrictions like everyone else. If he can’t be released in such a manner, he should not be.

I agree with you totally. But you seem to be under the impression that Jessica’s law is a Federal law. It is not. It is State law and thereby it could have been removed by legislative process. Check what your State has done.

At least you were notified. We found out through our neighbor, that a Level 2 moved in. The King County Sheriffs Office (WA) shows he is two blocks from a middle school, and just a block away from my house and my 8-year old son.

Level 1: The vast majority of registered sex offenders are classified as Level 1 offenders. They are considered at low risk to re-offend. These individuals may be first time offenders and they usually know their victims.

Level 2 offenders have a moderate risk of re-offending. They generally have more than one victim and the abuse may be long term. These offenders usually groom their victims and may use threats to commit their crimes. These crimes may be predatory with the offender using a position of trust to commit their crimes. Typically these individuals do not appreciate the damage they have done to their victims.

Level 3 offenders are considered to have a high risk to re-offend. They usually have one or more victims and may have committed prior crimes of violence. They may not know their victim(s). The crime may show a manifest cruelty to the victim(s) and these offenders usually deny or minimize the crime. These offenders commonly have clear indications of a personality disorder.

I’ll never understand that stupid law anyways. If they can’t live in a certain area...they can walk, drive, bus or roller skate to one. Just stupid.

a state law could over ride a federal law

I think there is a bit of confusion. Jessica's Law is the informal name given to a 2005 Florida law, as well as laws in several other states, designed to punish sex offenders and reduce their ability to re-offend.

A version of Jessica's Law, known as the Jessica Lunsford Act, introduced at the federal level in 2005 but not enacted into law by Congress. Congress is not empowered by the Constitution to insert itself into the affairs of state's police powers.

The question is about state law vs. federal law.

Note that the supremacy clause is a hot topic these days, for other reason.

What the heck does distance from a school matter? He can walk or drive there. This is idiocy to think sex offenders, which should be hanged anyway, should live so far away from schools. This is like the 1000 foot rule for guns from schools. Stupid, just stupid.

FYI, a mile is 5,280 feet, not 528, which makes a difference if the law is within 1000 feet of a school.

Jessica’s Law is not a Federal Law. Each state has their own version of this law.
