GOP fears backlash over health care stance

WASHINGTON — Top Republicans are starting to worry about their health care rallying cry “Repeal the bill.’’ It just might singe GOP candidates in November’s elections, they fear, if voters begin to see benefits from the new law.
Democrats, hoping the GOP is indeed positioning itself too far to the right for the elections, are taking note of every Republican who pledges to fight for repeal. Such a pledge might work well in conservative-dominated Republican primaries, they say, but it could backfire in the fall if more moderate voters turn out.

Not to mention the courts. Obama vs. Waterloo. The commerce clause can only be stretched so far before it breaks. Too bad it has to wait until someone can show the bill has caused them harm before it can be tried.
You'd think the states could make a case that this violates the 10th ammendment quite clearly. Both the people and the states require the protection from an over-reaching federal government that the 10th should provide.
Not that the feds have ever respected such a limitation, but perhaps the time has come when it will get's it's hand slapped. It's time governors throughout the country stand up for their state's sovereignty before it's lost for good or there'll no longer be any need for them and their legislatures.

Most people who want to see Obamacare gone would be happy to have the bill gutted.
They should be blacklisted for this year's mid terms.

The HOUSE controll by the GOP in Jan 2011 needs to DEFUND it. People hate it.
Entitlement entanglements can be taken care of with minimal political squealing through grandfathering. There hasn’t been much in the way of entitlements actually doled out yet — not even a mandate that insurance must cover all children (this was one of the Pelosi crowd oopses). Then the GOP can offer an alternative to the entitlement as an optional choice to the grandfathered. When the grandfathered realize they are looking at two tiers of medical care quality and they get the short end of the stick, they will be motivated to switch.
They are the former.
Obozo touted this bill as a way to bring health care costs down - that was the benefit alluded to here. This bill (now law) will increase costs - and by a lot. Thus, the “benefits” of this bill will not be realized for years and years to come. The pre-existing conditions part is not all inclusive from what I’ve read in the bill. Covering of children up to age 26 only applies to those who do not already have health care coverage of their own - and I don’t recall reading anything about this section being retroactive - in other words, do my children who have already been bumped off now regain coverage under my insurance? I’m guessing my employer will have something to say about this. Since no one in Congress has yet to read the complete bill (law) I’m not holding my breath on what is going to occur.

As for the point of this AP article- it is liberal media disinformation and strategy.
I want to see it gone with no replacement offered by anyone Republican or Democrat. The Feds have no business here.

The age 26 thing is likely to backfire on them. Many parents are looking to finally getting their young adults OFF of the dole - out and independent. That is the goal. This works counter to many family plans and is likely to bite the Democraps in the butt.
The "benefits" from this bill doesn't take effect until 2012...
So instead of calling for repeal, the pubs already said that health care needs reform, they can say they will change the law to make it into something that is workable and not punitive to the people.
All the Voters really care about is getting a “free” Obama Colonscopy. Of course they don't realize that they get one of those every day under the rule of the Democrats.
Republicans should then focus on informing people of the bad parts of the bill such as the denial of care to the elderly and disabled, and the probable loss of their current arrangements for something they will like less.
The enrichment of the Insurance Companies by requiring people who do not need it or want it to buy it, allowing premiums to rise, and not requiring Insurance Companies to issue policies to children with pre-existing conditions (through typical inept bureaucratic snafu).
The invasion of privacy by the government. Some government bureaucrat determining what treatment you receive instead of the doctor. The job killing method of financing which also steals from our children and grandchildren.
Then they should say the Republicans will stand with the American people to improve access to good quality health care not just crappy insurance that most doctors will not take, and makes the health care available worse instead of better.
That's one of those phrases like "Muslims offended".
