yeah its most likely going to be 29 dead, I doubt those 4 still missing are still alive..apparently this mine has had problems in the past..in 1984 27 miners died so this tragedy will be the worst one in American history, at least as far as I know
Massey Energy has just issued a statement on the tragedy:

The rescue effort has been suspended, but will resume “as soon as conditions allow.”
Horribly sad. May God be with the families of these poor men.
25 dead so far...
The trouble with saying, just send money, a la Red Cross, is that if you don’t have any money, you can’t help.
I work for another coal company. How the board puts up with Blankinship running Massey is beyond me. They have the worst safety and environmental record of the top five coal companys in the US.
In today’s world this should not happen. Period.
Prayers for these families.
What I know about this tragedy is what you know. Reprts say methane was involved so, a flash fire had to occur. Something had to ignite the methane, most likely something electrical, a cable perhaps. We actually don’t know all the facts and will have to wait for the results of the investigation.
Sad, so sad.
Massey is gonna be attacked by the media. Don Blankenship will be in the hot seat, for sure.
Just getting caught up here, so I’m sorry this reply is late. There was an explosion in 1968 here in WV that claimed 78 miners
