I think 2012 was a rounding error... 2010 seems to be the real deal.
Big quakes happen all the time.
I’d love to look at that question in detail.
With real statistics.
Then figure out what would constitute a “significant” increase”.

Actually, there are hundreds of earthquakes every week.
The increasing seismicity across the Earth might be due to the weakening of the magnetic field.

My feelings too. There are always a lot of earthquakes, but there seems to be a lot of high intensity earthquakes lately. Yikes!
I am thinking the same thing, since Haiti there have been how many? I have lost count!
