This is a good start. I once had a chance to look through the original records of the City Council and found that handgun registration came into being in the 1880’s. However, it was voluntary. I wonder how many were actually registered. The law was reworked and made mandatory in the 1960’s.
In the Concealed Carry class I took (about 1-1/2 years ago) they said that the City Attorney made a ruling that any gun carried by a CCW holder inside the City limits had to be registered, even if the owner did not live in the City. If it was not registered, he said that the gun would be confiscated and destroyed. Looks like the State is telling him where he can stuff his opinion.
Stopping the registration process is not nearly enough. All records should be destroyed.
