Disagree. If he wants to pick and choose which orders he follows, then he should resign his commission.
You are correct...in a sense he is on the path to that.By making a big (as Biden says..F...g) deal out of it, he gets publicity...He is probably weighing how far to go.
I guess with my Hitler analogy, it raises a good point..at what point do you “not follow orders”? Nuremberg was the rallying cry of the VN defectors, although they would have had CO options.
