This season’s darling of the political left, a man who has generated millions of dollars in his quest to stop Senator Blanche Lincoln from serving a third term, took a seat in the Gunsmoke Room at the Western Sizzlin restaurant here and explained his ideology.
The word Democrat came up only a time or two. The word liberal? Never.
“I don’t want the simplistic labels to get in the way of what’s really going on here,” said Lt. Gov. Bill Halter, a Democrat whose primary challenge to Mrs. Lincoln has ignited enthusiasm among activists who want to purge the party of those they see as close to corporate interests and uncommitted to liberal causes. “I’m complicated. I doubt you would like it very much if someone put a one-word adjective to describe you.”
Yet the very definition of the Democratic label is being tested in the Senate race in Arkansas, which has emerged as one of the most divisive primaries among Democrats as the midterm elections get under way.
Mr. Halter’s reluctance to fully embrace the left might ultimately make him a less-perfect standard-bearer than many liberals had hoped. But the campaign for the Senate seat held by Mrs. Lincoln — one that has been in Democratic hands for more than a century — is highlighting the divide between pragmatism, idealism and opportunity, as well as the tension between the continuity represented by incumbents and the change offered by challengers.
For all the talk of an angry conservative electorate this year, those on the left side of the spectrum are plenty angry, too, frustrated that President Obama and the majorities his party enjoys in Congress have not accomplished more to enact a liberal agenda.

You know what? Let’s do it his way... How about he just explain whatever actions he has supported now or in the past that violate the Constitution. I guarantee he won’t want to discuss THAT issue — at least not truthfully... OR he’ll lie through his teeth.
This is very predictable, IMHO. Last election the Democrats were all ABOUT how they were the “other guys”. Now, it’s not important? I hope people are angry enough not to forget.
I will immediately question his judgement if he runs as a democrat.

If this guy doesn’t think this way, he would show a little integrity and he wouldn’t belong to that party.
They are constantly either using new words, or just changing the definitions of old ones via the professors teaching history, economics and politics in most universities - sometimes even younger grades like I was exposed to via my HS English teacher (now head of the Dept. at my old school)...

If he runs a Rat..he is a Rat who will vote to re-elect Pelosi and further their agenda. None of this..I am a great guy vote for me crap. In the end the number one thing is who they will elect as party leadership.
"I'm complicated" is a code phrase for "I have no overarching principles."
I realize democrats are just projecting their own racism onto others, but in using the term for anything whatsoever, regardless of any actually relation to race even they have removed most of the meaning from the term. To be a racist these days just means that the democrats don't like you...it says volumes about them, but nothing about you.

My brother and I were just talking about this very thing today. Some ‘kid’ came to my door the other day and was campaigning for a guy running for county office. Anyway he handed a campaign card to me and the first thing I looked for was party affiliation and there wasn’t anything listed. But at the top right corner was a ‘tiny’ jackass. I shoved it back at the kid and told him “this guy is a jackass and I’m not interested”. lol the kid backed off my porch and said “fair enough”. That’s in MO btw.
