Richard Dawkins: I Will Arrest Pope Benedict XVI

April 11, 2010 Richard Dawkins: I Will Arrest Pope Benedict XVI Marc Horne

Atheist campaigner Richard Dawkins RICHARD DAWKINS, the atheist campaigner, is planning a legal ambush to have the Pope arrested during his state visit to Britain “for crimes against humanity”.

Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens, the atheist author, have asked human rights lawyers to produce a case for charging Pope Benedict XVI over his alleged cover-up of sexual abuse in the Catholic church.

The pair believe they can exploit the same legal principle used to arrest Augusto Pinochet, the late Chilean dictator, when he visited Britain in 1998.

The Pope was embroiled in new controversy this weekend over a letter he signed arguing that the “good of the universal church” should be considered against the defrocking of an American priest who committed sex offences against two boys. It was dated 1985, when he was in charge of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which deals with sex abuse cases.

I do trust in the Pope, He is the Vicar of Christ, the Head of our Church. He holds the Chair of Peter, the first Pope of the Catholic Church.

Mazol Tov !
Mat 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate;
for the gate is wide and the way is broad
that leads to destruction,
and there are many who enter through it.

Mat 7:14 "For the gate is small and
the way is narrow that leads to life,
and there are few who find it.

Mat 7:15 "Beware of the false prophets,
who come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Mat 7:16 "You will know them by their fruits.
Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes
nor figs from thistles, are they?

Are you aware that a large part of the Middle East, now Muslim, was once Christian? So too, Asia Minor.

The point was that the Chinese were keeping Muslims at bay for aeons, sport or no sport. If it wasn’t Christianity that kept Islam at bay in that instance, then the point made by the poster I first responded to, remains nullified.

Dawkins is a truly vile individual. A noxious weed, a total skunk.

If Dawkins were really interested in going after religious leaders for "crimes against humanity" he'd be out there trying to bust imams. But, sadly, Dawkins doesn't give a crap for crimes against humanity if he's not able to use it to attack the one religion that threatens his emotional stability the most. After all, it's not Christianity that still tolerates slaves. Yes, Ricky, go up against the one religion that teaches its followers to turn the other cheek when struck. That's a whole lot safer than attacking Islam and winding up with a fatwa decreed against you for your atheism and your head separated from your body.

Dawkins should be arrested for all of atheism’s crimes against humanity since he has put himself forward as the spokesman for atheism.

You are also conflating religions and denominations with the personal relationship with Christ that Biblical Christianity actually teaches. The Roman Empire was even no match for the power of the Gospel.

Thanks for the link.

I noticed something at the very beginning of the article:

“He [Dawkins] mocks the irrationality of believing in something that you cannot subject to scientific scrutiny ...”

He must think that love, and art, and human consciousness are all evil too, because they are “not subject to scientific scrutiny.” What an idiot.

It continues to show that the militant, vociferous atheists are just cowards at heart.

Well, the Muslims claim that the Roman Empire was no match to their false faith, when Constantinople fell into Muslim hands, either. In fact, they use this very incident as a fulfilment of Muhammad’s prophecy that this centre of Roman power would collapse onto their hands.

The truth is, empires always fall, powers always shift.

You are probably right as I too know catholics who love the Lord and devoted to him. I am not opposed to those who are believers by any means....and I am also not supportive of the World Council of Churches who also has more leanings apart from the gospel. They both seem far more political at the top than they do at the bottom...

I’m not attacking the Church. And my kid attended a RC Parochial school where he received the same environmental and social justice crapola that the public schools taught which is why I took him out after 6th grade and home schooled. The school administrators were laymen.

What I am criticizing is a hierarchical-bound Church manned by MEN who do not relate well to their congregates and, in fact, far too often see themselves as totally seperate. The Church, which I still respect mightily, has largely done great things and been the force forming the morals and ethics throughout the history of Western Civilization. But MEN are not equals of God and we should not foolishly believe they represent Him when they would protect one of themselves and risk the safety of innocent children.

“I think people with fragile egos and/or polluted consciences feel the need to strike out against what they believe is the cause of their own personal pain. ...”

I’m sure that’s part of it. This is another:

Hitchens is not, but Dawkins is a leftist-collectivist of the “humanism” branch, and all those types of people want to control other people. I think they know, like Gramsci, those who believe in principles, and values, and absolutes cannot be controlled, and the first thing you have to get rid of, if you want a collectivist society, is any form of belief system that makes people want to be free and independent. Since that is exactly the kind of people I want in any society in which I live, I could never be opposed to religion, no matter how much I might disagree with any specific teachings.
