Seconded. Both are terrible writers, and IBTZ to the DUmmy troll.

I'm waiting to hear folks in the media say "In a very real way, Abp. Weakland is a victim, too." [Is that Matt Lauer's voice I hear?] If they haven't already said it. Isn't he a hero to those who seek to embarrass the Church as a means to "bring it down"?

I think the media is ignorant, possibly intentionally ignorant, of most if not all things Catholic. In the current controversy they throw around a term like 'defrocked' as if it had real meaning and care not to understand the organizational structure of the Church. I mean, isn't the priesthood like any other 'job' one can be fired from and isn't it easier to imagine the Church as GM with its various units and divisions all answering to a CEO?

As it's been pointed out many times on FR, the majority of 'cases' involve young men not prepubescent boys but why bother pointing out the distinction when we live in a culture that keeps pushing off the responsibilities of adulthood indefinitely . . . with gay men, the best exemplars of this new mode of living, celebrated by the elites. As the last 'sexual taboo' in modern society, the sexual abuse of children serves their purposes whereas priestly pederasty doesn't.

Confusion reigns.

“...I have my opinion. I respect yours, you should respect mine.”
Hard to respect you or your opinion when you tell lies about people, just like the liberal media.

Ignorance is what caused you to commit spiritual suicide. You’ve no one to blame but yourself.

This Pope has kicked out and liacized more priests than any other in history since he became Pope. He also has made it almost impossible for this type of behavior to occur in the Church now. Most of these cases that the media are digging up happened 25, 30 years ago. They are horrific and have shaken me, but that doesn't change the fact that the world press is trying to lay the blame for this mess on Benedict XVI, which is unjust. He's part of the problem, not the solution.

As a Catholic I'm sorry to have to say this, but the blame lies on two past Popes: Paul VI and John Paul II. And the sorry bunch of loser bishops they appointed to the episcopate. Thankfully, Benedict is doing a better job on all counts than his predecessors.

Can you show me where the Pope supports globalism?

Been backwards and forwards over that . . . there’s a whole thread on the encyclical with the shocking paragraph.

I don’t care to revisit all that.

Perhaps Dr E has the link handy.

Search could also dig it up relatively easily, I’d think.

In re the Chinese crushing Uigher Muslims, credit where credit is due. However in the broad scope of history it is the Christians and Christian nations that have kept Muslims back from world domination.

The Uigher thing was a small uprising within Chinese borders. Not a takeover of other nations, shipping lanes/commerce, etc.

I don’t think so.

. . . Progresso . . . or some such may have been in the title.

Searching “encyclical” might do it.

An earlier Pope has a quote in the list ref’d in my tagline:

Of course the . . . ‘rabid cliques’ hereon rationalize all such away quite conveniently.

Doesn’t wash for the rest of us.

“Richard Dawson is just another fundamentalist religious fanatic.”

Oh that’s true - and he’d hate hearing that - which makes it doubly good.
