Polish Presidents body arrives home
11.04.2010 17:06
The body of the late President Lech Kaczynski arrived at Warsaws military airport, Sunday afternoon, and the coffin driven through streets lined with thousands of Poles wanting to pay their respects.
The coffin was removed from the CASA military aircraft which had taken it from Smolensk where the presidents plane crashed on Saturday. Archbishop Jozef Kowalczyk and Metropolitan of Warsaw Archbishop Kazimierz Nycz were waiting on the tarmac to say mass.
At 15.24 CET the coffin, draped in the Polish flag, was placed on the airports apron and then visited and kissed by Lech Kaczynskis tearful daughter, Marta, the late presidents twin brother Jaroslaw, acting head of state Bronislaw Komorowski, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and many other dignitaries and family who had gathered at the airport.
The coffin was placed in a funeral car and driven slowly through the streets of Warsaw to the chapel at the Presidential Palace. There the coffin will be open to public view, although not today, spokesman Jacek Sasin told TVP Info.
For sure this will not happen on Sunday, he said.
Sasin added that the date for President Kaczynskis funeral has yet to be settled and is up to members of his family to decide.
Prime Minister Tusk has described the plane crash on Saturday in Smolensk, western Russia, as killing 96, as a tragedy that the modern world has not seen before.
“May the victims rest in peace.”
And may the perpetrators repent and turn to Christ’s forgiveness, lest they spend eternity in Hell with Satan, the original murderer and liar.

God Bless the Polish people. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for these very moving pictures. May God comfort those who have suffered this loss and wrap His arms around thos He has taken. My prayers are with the people of Poland.
Our prayers are with the people of Poland, and all people in the world from Poland, or with relatives from Poland as well.
In addition, my mind remains stunned at the fact that this tragedy occurred on the very anniversary day, and in the same area, of the tragedy of 70 years ago that the Polish leaders were on there way to commemorate, when the plane crashed!!
I do not know what to make of it, but I don’t believe such things are mere coincidences.
Absolutely Heart Breaking!! I weep for Poland and her people today.
Please add me to your ping list.
God Be With Poland right now. Send a leader that will step into the shoes of this fallen leader and lead Poland in integrity and honor!!
I haven’t heard. Did The imposter in the White House even comment on the tragedy?
God Bless Poland!
God Bless the United States!
May we once again be a loyal ally of Poland.
What was very touching, is that they did go on with the commemoration, and showed the empty seats, as they say, “not a dry eye in the house.”
The poor Poles. Prayers for them - and for us all after this loss of a strong ally.
And what really gets me is that the bastard Jaruzelski still lives.
Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Te decet hymnus Deus, in Sion,
et tibi reddetur votum in Ierusalem.
Exaudi orationem meam;
ad te omnis caro veniet.
Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Godspeed Poland. You are in our prayers.
The sadness on his daughter’s face in the black & white photo is heartbreaking. She lost her mother and father and her kids lost grandparents.
Her first physical moment with the horrid reality is in front of the world. Such grace and dignity in what has to be the most heartbreaking moment of her life.
I would not have held it together.
Prayers for our Polish brothers and sisters. My heart weeps.
Heartbreaking.
Thank you so very much for providing these pictures. They are heartbreaking, especially the picture of his daughter who has lost both her father and her mother in the same tragedy.
I have turned on every news channel and there is absolutely no news about this and several friends were barely interested and even when I told them who died and the entire leadership of the country had been decapitated they were just “Oh”.
I don’t get it.
You know - it’s only Poland (sarcasm off)
