Spitzer is lucky that he didn't get prosecuted under NY's "John Law" and a host of other illegalities, and now he wants a political 'rehabilitation' just because he's *bored* ???

Meanwhile I just did my NYS tax return today and am furious ... those greedy bastards in Albany(!) ... they want you to report purchases made in *other States* (while travelling) so that they can charge NYS sales tax on them! And you can't leave the box blank, you MUST put in a number there ... it's a required entry. Greedy bastards!

Otherwise ya got a completely dysfunctional State legislature with a Senate Majority Leader who is sitting pretty raking in the bucks from his taxpayer funded medical clinic in the Bronx, and a bumbling Governor who talks a good game but can't get diddly-squat done ... what a mess!!!

Gov Spitzer had A LOT to hide and high-ranking people were helping him. News organizations confirmed reports that Albany DA David Soares was reluctant to probe the explosive plot in which Spitzer's top aides used the State Police to gather purportedly damaging information against Republican opponents.....then used forged documents to make the case.

BACKSTORY Spitzer falsely claimed during his 1988 AG campaign that he secured a $5 million campaign loan by mortgaging eight apartments his billionaire developer-father had given him. As the end of his campaign neared, Spitzer admitted that his father was actually paying off the loans and, therefore, financing his campaign - a possible election-law violation.

Harvard-educated Spitzer was quoted as saying in a magazine article "I didn't realize how necessary it was to be transparent about every personal financial transaction."

Between 2000-2004, the "father's charity" gave $101,000 to NARAL's foundation. NARAL also gave $10,500 to Spitzer's two campaigns.....NARAL endorsed him publicly.

The Bernard and Anne Spitzer Charitable Trust - on which Eliot, his brother Daniel, and their parents are board members - gave a total of $66,000 in 2004 to NARAL Pro-Choice New York, the radical abortion rights group; the Drum Major Institute, a think tank; and the Progressive America Fund, a voter mobilization effort. These groups, whose leaders backed Spitzer for governor, received $75,000 from the Spitzer "charity" between 2000-03.

Donations to Spitzer's political allies were apparently a fraction of $2.6 million (?) the Spitzer Foundation supposedly awarded in 2004.

The elder Spitzer, 82, and his immediate family have pumped hundreds of thousands of dollars into Eliot's campaigns since his first losing bid for attorney general in 1994. The Spitzer family's "tax-exempt charity" has donated at least $140,000 to groups led by his political allies - a practice that some have questioned.

Bernard Spitzer also lent his son $5 million to pay for early campaigns when Eliot was largely unknown.
