German shipyard building subs for Israel sold to UAE group

Defense officials concerned deal could impact on future procurement of new missile ships from the company.
The sale of a German shipyard which is currently building two new Dolphin-class submarines for Israel to a business group from the United Arab Emirates could impact talks on the navys possible procurement of new missile ships from the company.
ThyseenKrupp Marine Systems announced in late March that it had finalized a strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi MAR group, based in the UAE, under which the company will control a reported 80 percent of the Blohm + Voss Shipyards.
Israel already owns three Dolphin-class submarines made in Germany, and in addition to the two under construction, is also in talks with Berlin about the possible procurement of a sixth sub.
The Israel Navy is also in talks with Blohm + Voss about the possible sale of two 2,000-ton missile ships that would be based on the companys Meko-class warship.
Israeli defense officials said they were aware of the Blohm + Voss sale to the UAE group. One official said that the issue would come up in talks with the Germans about the possible sale of the two new Meko-class warships, but that it would likely not affect the deal since sensitive Israeli technology is not installed on the ships until they arrive in Israel.
What we receive from the Germans is a platform, one official explained. The sensitive technological systems that we wouldnt want the UAE to know about are installed in Israel.
The design of the warships would be similar to the existing Israeli Saar 5-class ship, but would be slightly larger to enable it to carry the massive IAI-made Adir radar, capable of providing an extensive over-the-horizon view.
The ship will be capable of carrying special forces and larger infantry units as well as midsize vehicles, alongside at least one helicopter. The ship will also be installed with the anti-ship Harpoon Missile, as well as the Barak anti-missile defense system.
Each ship is expected to cost over $300 million, and Israel is hoping that the German government will provide part of the funding, as it has in the past for the Israeli-bought submarines.

There is a socialist missile system that can’t think nor tell the truth?
Israel really needs to learn to build its own subs and not just the electronic systems.
The tentacles of Islamic oil dollars run far and deep. They may have helped put the monster in the Oval Office. So its not surprising they can do this.
The Saudis need not spend one nickle of dime or life on their own protection. They have been relying on western Europeans and Americans to do that for them.
Its time that the public DEMANDED an accounting from all elected officials of any and all Saudi Oil Money they have received, or have been promised after leaving office.
Looks like they might need to learn to build everything from scratch.
Incoming missiles do not know what barak is and fall to its sales pitch every time.
Not cost effective. Too expensive as every piece of metal
has to be shipped in and theres not much infrastructure
(foundries, heavy machine building, steelmaking). No Iron
and no coking coal. Better to buy proven components
abroad and add the high value systems yourself when you
are a small volume customer.
Israel needs to build their own military hardware.
Great...now Israel must go to a Islamic Terrorist State to get sohphisticated weaponry....
Israel should start building their own.....Liberal Globalists are on the side of Islamic Terrorists....and also are anti-Semitic
What the really need is an anti-Barack missle defense.
I do believe the missile is called "lighting". That's also the name they use for the F-16C/D.
The Israeli electronics are installed on the ships, not the subs, which come complete. At least that’s how I read the article.
Looks like they might need to learn to build everything from scratch.
That's the problem with a world engaged in so-called "free trade" and a country getting their goods and even raw materials from all over the world. Someome, somewhere can cause havoc in regards to some of these materials and goods.
Amen, ST. With the way anti-Semitism has reestablished itself around the world, Israel is in a very vulnerable position, especially when it comes to military needs like this. And we can find ourselves in a similar situation.
Israel sells to them (Turkey).

The movie “Deterrance” depicted just that...
I realize Israel is in a position where they must purchase from other countries since Hus sane obama has stopped our help. But I think Israel does realize they have to carefully examine what they get now from others. Best that they can an do the inner workings which someone could really screw up.
I saw a delivery of Nuclear Rods to a plant from start to finish. Every inch of those rods was examined at length. It was amzing to watch. I tend to think Israel will need to do likewise.
Wonderful. The Arabs now own the manufacturer for some ot the best subs in the world. The US Navy can’t track U-214s with Stirling Fuel Cells drives.
Oh Sh**
