Spanking toddlersmakes for more aggressive kindergartners, according to a new study from Tulane University in New Orleans.

Research finds spanking has long-term negative effects on children's behavior. While organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center for Effective Discipline staunchly advocate against corporal punishment, many parents continue to turn to the rod when disciplining their children.

In a 2005 online poll, 72 percent of adults reported that it was "OK to spank a child." Various studies in recent years found the prevalence of corporal punishment varied widely, from 35 percent of parents to 90 percent, authors of the Tulane study note.

In the new study, published Monday in the journal Pediatrics, researchers found that of 2,500 mothers surveyed across the country, 46 percent reported no spanking in the last month, 28 percent said they spanked one to two times, and 26 percent reported spanking more than twice.

Three-year-old children of mothers who used spanking more frequently were significantly more likely to have aggressive kids later on down the road, the Tulane researchers found.

More from the article.....

Even when controlling for other factors that affect child aggression by age five, such as parental neglect, maternal depression and stress, and the child's aggressive tendencies as a toddler, researchers found that maternal aggression begets childhood aggression. Toddlers who are spanked were more likely to grow into kindergarteners that bully, hit, and were destructive and disobedient.

Or, more likely, more aggressive tots have to be spanked more to get their attention.

This is just more crap from the Alinsky wing of Science to destroy basic common sense familiar relationships.

Actually, a certain amount of aggression is a good thing. The opposite is called “pushover”. I honestly would have desired that my parents spanked me more often. I got it one time. I have a hard time with conflict, but age is rectifying the situation finally. I’m 56 and getting rather cantankerous.

Or could this study have it backwards and it is mothers of more aggressive children who are more likely to spank?

Maybe it's the aggressive toddlers that get spanked more often?
And they are still aggressive by kindergarten time?

Prior to Benjamin Spock, the US was inundated with violent, feral children? And since the idea that spanking is bad took hold, we have progressed into a happy society where all children are polite and well-behaved -- because they have never been spanked?

Is this the storyline we're going with?

Maybe they were spanked because they were bullies, destructive and disobedient. No need to spank a well-behaved child.

Yeah, like I’m gonna take the word of these elitist leftists
over the Word of God.

“Aggressive” children are those who have never been taught that they aren’t entitled to everything they desire.

Abuse is likely to cause aggressive behavior. DISCIPLINE, unlike ABUSE, teaches a child respect, self-control, right-from-wrong, and so on and so forth.

These liberals have been trying to convince us that abuse and discipline are the same thing.

The last time I checked, those anarchists running around this country and destroying lives and private property came from those “spanking is evil” homes.

More of your liberal psycho-babble.
