That’s why fathers spank...duh.
Lighten up, Francis. ;)
Oh boy! Facepalm! It was staring me in the face!
“Mothers who spank” -
ARE LIKELY NOT TO HAVE A FATHER IN THE HOME? PERHAPS?
Perhaps not having a father in the home leads to aggressive children?
Yeah, well my dad can beat up your mom.
***Spanking toddlersmakes for more aggressive kindergartners, according to a new study from Tulane University in New Orleans. ***
Bunkum! If this were true then my brother and I would have been in prison at a verry early age.
So, do you support discipline/spanking, or not?
Now if a distressed/disturbed(?) Mother 'hits' her children and often, can understand that; probably inmature and agressive in many ways, as well, with children.
But fair spanking? No. way!
Geez, people are such inept parents these days...

If this were true, my siblings and I would be on death row. We’ve been law abiding, tax paying citizens all of our life.
Every single violent child I have run into in my life, where the parent had declared their child rearing philosophy, was the direct result of parental avoidance of discipline.
Children act out to get parental attention. Children instinctively know what is right and wrong. If they don’t get called on things, it’s in effect parental abuse, “Hey, they don’t care about me, or what I do.” Kids will act out to see how far they can go (testing the parents), and if the parent actually gives a damn about them.
Parents reluctant to use corporal punishment as a last resort, are telegraphing to their children that they ultimately don’t give a damn what they do.
“Hey honey, you just do as you please. And when you leave the home as an adult, society will let you do as you please too.”
If done correctly, it can also build young boys into men. Instead of girlie boys. Boys learn quickly that there is a line that can’t be crossed. I learned this early in my life. When I did cross that line.......I felt it. As I grew older, all my father had to do was look at me a certain way and I knew what the next step was going to be. The unspoken word is a powerful tool if you learn it early. These people are fools and need to stay out of our lives.
Towards the end of his life, Dr. Spock stated that he was wrong. As soon as I find the time, I’ll try to find the quote.
“we have progressed into a happy society where all children are polite and well-behaved — because they have never been spanked?”
It’s the same mentality to make liberals think that the US is the only reason for conflict in the world. (Can’t we all get along?)
And the the US disarming itself would fix everything.
ROFLOL!
That's a very telling omission from the study.
How many of the households in the study were single parent? Might that not have an effect???
Me? Sure I do.
Just ask my kids.
(No, wait)
Even if spanking results in (slightly) more aggressive children, the study misses the point. Spanking is a response to the immediate problem of disobedient and/or destructive children. For example, let’s say your child wants to play with matches. You tell them, “No!” and use non-violent parenting techniques, but you find the child secretly playing with a book of matches. What are you going to do? In this particular case, the disobedience might end up in the child’s death. Are you going to refuse to spank the child, because it MIGHT result in SLIGHTLY more aggressive behavior from the child later on? If so, you’re a poor excuse for a parent. Bottom line, this study went searching for harmful effects of spanking, and no surprise, it found some.
BTW, I very, very rarely used spanking on my children, but sometimes nothing less seemed appropriate to the situation.
After I read this BS article, I spanked my children just to make sure they know who’s boss.
Spanking is not the contributing factor, the factor is not having a Dad who since serves best in any family as the disciplinarian since time begun.
