FREEP THIS POLL! U.S. House Race for HAWAII Seat
Self | 04/12/2010 | Self

Posted on 04/12/2010 12:51:28 PM PDT by Proud2BAmerican

Please take a moment to help FREEP this poll. It is an online poll for the Honolulu Advertiser, and it is for the election to replace the seat vacated by former U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie. Hawaii has a legitimate chance to be Massachusetts The Sequel, with Charles Djou (R), a fiscal, common-sense conservative, challenging the union-backed Colleen Hanabusa (D) and Democrat Ed Case (who paints himself as a "moderate" and "independent" but is really another tax-and-spender). The narrative played out in local media is that Charles is a longshot, but Cook Political Report has revised their assessment twice so far, and now I believe it is toss-up. The poll is on the paper's main page at

Hanabusa will win. Of the candidates interviewed, she’s the only one who said that the government must keep its promise to its elderly retirees’ regarding their health plan benefits.

Question - does showing more in support actually work in opposition to the good guy? Doesn’t it mean the Democrats will work even harder to defeat him? Maybe if they think the groundswell is small they’ll forget about him and compete amongst themselves. Since there are no primaries and it’s winner take all with a gazillion Democrats to one well-known Republican player, we stand to win if they split the votes on the democrats.

The ads they’re running against him are as disgusting as you’ll find. Claiming he favored giving tax breaks to companies that send labor overseas. The FACTS are that he is in favor of tax breaks for EVERYONE who pays taxes. If you start coming up with exceptions - yeah, tax breaks for everyone EXCEPT A, B, C, and D, they’ll find another “evil” group that you support a tax break for. Democrats are slime.

She’s probably got the best odds since Inouye and Akaka will play dirty against Case. Ain’t local politics fun? (/sarcasm). My hope is that most of the people in the district aren’t former union players.

Do you have any recent poll numbers for councilman Djou? Keeping any eye on Florida 19 with Lynch being a possible winner tomorrow. Getting Obama’s “home” district and taking Florida ought to send a message.

Charles Djou was interviewed on RedEye - seemed like a normal, common sense conservative. He would send yet another message if he won in socialist Hawaii.

I'm not sure. I see merit to your argument, but then the counter to that is that you don't want your supporters thinking it's a lost cause so they don't bother to show up on voting day.

I think it says something that the DCCC has gotten so heavily involved over here in what should be an automatic win for them -- they are obviuosly seeing something about the race that frightens the bejeezus out of them, that the very real possibiliyt of an upset is materializing.

Yes, please please people click the link and cast a vote for Charles Djou. It is important to send up opposition to the ongoing media narrative that Djou doesn’t have a chance.

He is just that. He’s extremely fiscally conservative, and he’s a former Army Reserve officer. Local boy too. His win would generate more national attention on the groundswell uprising of conservatives getting active and taking back political offices.
