Actually, William Gardner defended the Burger King commercial and said he didn't want his son to be hyper-sensitive about having mental illness.

Gee, it's a good thing Gardner didn't live in the New York metro area a while back.

"Crazy Eddie, his prices are IN-SA-A-A-A-A-ANE!"

Every poll has concluded that liberals are less happy than conservatives. There are many reasons for this, and given the importance of little joys to happiness, the Left's religious-like opposition to many of them is surely one of those reasons.

This is on a bit of a tangent, but when I visited the Capital building in Sacramento, I couldn't help but notice a huge difference between the governors' portraits. All of the Republican governors' portraits showed happy men with huge smiles across their faces (e.g. Reagan, Deukmajian). The Democrat's portraits were all of scowling, unhappy men (e.g. Brown, Davis).

William Gardner of Los Angeles, who wrote to me: "I am a father of a 24 year old son with mental health issue. I am particularly tuned to protecting my son's self-image. My son and I have both seen the Burger King Ad that you have referred to.It did not occur to either of us that the Burger King Ad was offensive in any way. Why would I raise my son to be hyper-sensitive about his disability? My objective as a parent is to strengthen him. Making him hyper-sensitive would have the opposite effect."

Exactly.

For some reason, libs have a blind spot that makes it impossible for them to discern the difference between an individual choosing to do something,
and that choice being forced on them by the state with the inherent threat of deadly violence for non-compliance.

“..if a conservative doesn’t like something they leave it alone, if RATS don’t like something, they don’t want YOU to have it/do it either...” ~ Chode

This is what I sent out to my email lists the other day:

It’s easy to know which political party a person will choose just by seeing how emotionally intelligent - (mature or immature) - they are. Here are just a few of the clues that give them away:

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn`t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn`t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion
silenced. (Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about
shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a
good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he’s “offended”.

When first you practice envy, in any form, your ultimate destination is known. Unfortunately, envy destroys both the practicer of it and everyone around them. Envy dispises all virture and enjoyment. Ever wonder why our culture has become remorsefully unfunny? We no longer have a sense of humor for fear of being condemned by our “anointed betters”. America was once a fun and interesting place to live. It has become a summer camp for retards.

” [..] Now, could we make a gratuitous comment about how this is analogous to what the leftist — I mean the true believer, not merely the clueless Democrat — does with the terror of his God-given political freedom?

For what is the Nanny State but a gargantuan two-dimensional plane that we should all cling to in order to protect us from the infinite Sphere of Life?

And what are all of the thousands of useless laws and agencies they put in place, but a kind of collective OCD, in which we always end up back where we started? In other words, trillions of wasted dollars later, we have the same poverty, the same violence, the same stupidity.

The same Mankind, frankly, only worse for the systematic neglect of man’s true nature.

And the leftist does not wish to be cured, any more than the above patient did. For to be cured is to realize that one’s life has been wasted in meaningless rituals.

And that’s a depressing thought.” ~ Robert W. Godwin, Ph.D, Clinical Psychologist (aka “Gagdad Bob”) bttt

These are the same people who teach that a man putting his sexual organ into another man’s defecatory orifice is merely a lifestyle choice.

You got it! Here are some links I think you'd find noteworthy if and when you have time to check them out.:)

Excerpt: "One of the most important but little known concepts in psychoanalysis is that of envy. It is a term of art, not to be confused with the dictionary definition. ..... In order to advance into capitalism, human beings had to get past the “envy barrier” and tolerate the idea that some people will have more than others.

In primitive groups, envy is so pervasive that no one is allowed to have more than anyone else--they are trapped in a "zero sum" theory of economics, just as are many liberals today.

"To naive leftists, a primitive culture may look like an egalitarian paradise, but it is actually a paranoid and envious hell, with everyone fearful of the “evil eye” of his envious neighbor should he acquire more than him. For this reason, primitive groups mindlessly destroy surpluses or engage in sacrifices to their “envious” gods. ...

"If we could somehow eliminate envy from the human genome, there would be almost no reason for the left to exist. They would instantly lose that which animates them, for example, envy masquerading as justice or economic theory.

In order to be happy, we must all keep our envy in check, because envy is the opposite of gratitude. Envy does not appreciate what one has, only what one doesn’t have. And our capacity to imagine what we do not have--and that someone else is enjoying it--is literally infinite, as is envy. .." Complete commentary HERE

"...the indulgence of envy actually destroys the gratitude that is central to human happiness. ..." HERE: The Eighth Commandment of Nihilism: What's Yours is Mine

...because the Left hates the fact that people smoke (tobacco, not marijuana, which the Left defends) it uses totalitarian (I use that term with no exaggeration) tactics to eliminate it.

I always thought it ironic when people claim police waste too much time busting kids smoking pot,(when they could be catching "real" criminals, they argue),but have no problem when the police spend the time to send 17 year olds into the corner store to see if they can fool the cashier into selling them cigarettes.

I'm about halfway through Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism." It's hard to describe the feeling I get in the pit of my stomach when I recognize the behaviors of the earlier fascist dictators being displayed in the current resident. If you haven't read this book, you need to. Soon.

Right now, Golberg is describing the need for war in order to give substance to fascisitic tyranny, and exposes the AGW lie, the dietary fat/heart disease lie, earth-worship, etc., all as suitable substitutes for actual war in order to support the governmental controls on every minute aspect of American life. It gives me a sick feeling to realize that we have had fascism in place for the last hundred years.

[Article] Women are not wimps. But the Left has inculcated a sense of victimhood into large numbers of women and thereby rendered them weak -- just as it has, in ways too numerous to mention, emasculated men.

Over time, Michael Savage's assertion that liberalism is an actual mental disorder begins to explain more and more .... not that I liked his statement when I first heard it, but because what he said appears to have explanatory power, I have to deal with it more seriously than I did at first.

"If we could somehow eliminate envy from the human genome, there would be almost no reason for the left to exist."

The Left needs their own country. Unfortunately, they want ours, and it seems they're willing to redefine our reality as insanity (a la Julianne Malveaux, q.v.) and institutionalize us, in order to get their way -- when as Michael Savage says, it's probably they who could benefit more from psychiatric intervention.
