Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger so far has avoided the GOP gubernatorial fray. But Schwarzenegger's office couldn't resist lashing out Tuesday at Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner after Poizner's latest TV ad takes shots at the incumbent governor in an appeal to conservative Republicans.

It also features a quote from conservative Rep. Tom McClintock, who says, "Whitman would be Arnold's third term." The ad's kicker is, "After Arnold, don't we deserve a Republican?"

A lefty making fun of our liberal governor makes you laugh? Schwarzenegger is solidly to the right of Poizner. And I have Poizner’s own words for it. I remember him railing against what a right wing extremist Schwarzenegger was. Of course, a few years later he was claiming he was a less-muscled clone of Schwarzenegger. But, he was right the first time. Poizner make Arnold Schwarzenegger look like Duncan Hunter.
