Sen. Bunning endorses Rand Paul over his own 'protege'
The Hill ^ | 04/14/2010 | Aaron Blake

Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) is leaving the Senate, but he's not going quietly.

Bunning on Wednesday announced that he will support Rand Paul in the GOP primary to take his seat. The move will be seen as a direct affront to the state's other senator, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and the candidate he is more closely tied to, Secretary of State Trey Grayson.

“Kentucky needs a conservative who will say no to bailouts, stop the government takeover of our economy, end wasteful spending, and bring down our national debt," Bunning said. "And Kentucky’s families need a conservative who believes in traditional values and the rights of the unborn. In 2010, there is only one such conservative running for the United States Senate -- Dr. Rand Paul."

Mongiardo is a doctor; he didn’t want to vote for something that would put him out of business!

And last I checked, Rand Paul has a double-digit lead over both Mongiardo and Conway. Obviously, if Paul wins the primary, November is a long ways away...but still, saying we’re doomed with a guy with a double-digit lead and who can raise a ton of money is foolish.

I support the Tea Party movement. I do not support candidates supported by Truthers and traitors like Adam Kokesh.

On second thought, maybe I shouldn’t ask you to shut up and find a neo-con in your own state to support, for this is too much like comic relief on a stressful day. You rant and rave and throw the same temper tantrum repeatedly (the same one you were throwing back when you were lying and saying that Greyson was the choice of sitting Senator Jim Bunning). And then, like the little kid who is tired of getting his ass kicked, you copy in a handful of Freepers who weren’t even involved in the discussion. Take up your pathetic lies with the Downsize DC Foundation, Concerned Women for America, Gun Owners of America, Steve Forbes, FreedomWorks, Northern Kentucky Right to Life, Sarah Palin, and our own Senator Jim Bunning...ALL OF WHOM endorsed Dr. Rand Paul.

If Junior Paul wins the general, it will be solely due to the national climate and his getting pulled across, much like how all the execrable rodent cretins were in ‘06, even unpopular ones. The problem is quite so, that the Democrats will be swift to enlighten Kentuckians on Paul’s extremist links and fundraising if Grayson is unable to stop him. Grayson has no similar baggage to be “caught” on going into November, Paul has tons. I pray Grayson wins the primary, because I’m not looking forward to my media market (which from Nashville covers Southern KY from Hopkinsville to Bowling Green and environs) being saturated in Democrat ads clear until November linking Junior and Kokesh and where Junior’s $$’s are coming from. Patriotic Kentuckians will NOT be admiring of that.

Looks like McConnell can't hit a curveball.

And Bunning had a great one.

In this climate, Bunning could be reelected.

I’ve been a fan of Jim Bunning since 1957 when he led off the Detroit Tigers’ Yankee-Killer rotation (Bunning, Frank Lary, Paul Foytack).

But, about Rand Paul....are there any significant ideological differences between him and his Dad? Please say yes. I really don’t want a Fed Paranoiac and a Neville Chamberlainite going to the Senate.

It isn’t a secret that McConnell doesn’t like Palin. So it all makes sense. What a bunch of children they are.

My apologies to our seasoned citizens, but Mitch should just retire along with the rest of the dinosaurs. In government his whole adult life (just like Up Chuck Chucky Schumer in NY)he has never done a honest days work in his life. College to govt to grave. Some deal if you can get it.
Run a business before you try to run my life.

Multi millionaire from a government salary? Time to go.

His best decision was to marry the very lovely (Former Secy of Labor) Elaine Chao. I would like the opportunity to vote for his wife who is sharp as a tack and very capable.

Good for Bunning. I hated the fact they were running him out of office in the first place. Rand Paul will win this seat and Kentucky and the nation will be better for it. We have had enough soft Republicanism represented by Charlie Christ, Trey Grayson, and Tom Campbell and the like.

C’mon field, you’re better than this. You have to realize the political environment has changed drastically now. People are angry at statist politicians groomed by the establishment. That’s what Grayson represents and its reprehensible to the voters.
