Obama 'amused' by Tea Party rallies (They should thank the Wee Wee for enacting tax cuts)

President Barack Obama struck a hyperpartisan note Thursday, telling Democrats that he was "amused" by the Tax Day Tea Party rallies.

Obama, addressing a Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser in Miami, did little to endear himself to the Tea Party groups protesting around the country, saying "they should be saying thank you" because of the tax cuts he has signed into law.

The president went as far as to say that this week's special election in Florida, which was won by Democrat Ted Deutch, was portrayed by Republicans as "a referendum on healthcare, a referendum on the stimulus."

"And you know what, it was," Obama said to applause.

Obama continued to dare Republicans to run on a platform of repealing healthcare reform, telling the audience "they won't be very successful."

Even if the Dems get crushed this November Obama will convince himself that it had absolutely nothing to do with him.

Even worse, Obama will say that a republican victory shows that people are overwhelmingly supporting his policies of hope and change.
This guy is from the upside down world.

"they should be saying thank you"

How many DNC flacks cringed? He wins one seat, then loses a handful.

He’s not amused - he’s scared. This display of arrogance is just one more affectation from his tyrant’s play book.

Nope.

From an AP article yesterday:

The massive economic recovery package enacted last year included about $300 billion in tax cuts over 10 years. About $232 billion was in cuts for individuals, nearly all in the first two years.

The most generous was Obama's Making Work Pay credit, which gives individuals up to $400 and couples up to $800 for 2009 and 2010. The $1,000 child tax credit was expanded to more families, and the working poor can qualify for as much as $5,657 from the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Ummmmm, those aren't "tax cuts". THEY ARE WELFARE PAYMENTS! You actually have to pay taxes in order to have them cut...

This country will scrape this man off its shoe in 2012 and 2012 can not come soon enough.

We can not be lulled into a false sense of bravado because we spend our time in echo chambers.

Exactly. Far too many are looking at November as a fait accompli. I am very nervous about it. I don't see the public's outrage growing at all except, as you say, in the chamber. In fact, I believe they have a plan to dole out billions in give aways just before the election getting the money from TARP. People will believe, as long as he's giving them money, that he's on their side.

The GOP is doing a hideous job of educating the populace on what this administration is doing to their future.

And all Americans everywhere are amused when there is a complete ass in the Oval Office.

I cannot remember a time in US History when a sitting president mocked his own citizens who disagreed with his policies.

Anyone?

Rep. Ryan was on TV last night making your point - these so-called tax cuts are actually outlays. We’re back to “that depends on what the meaning of ‘is’ is”. OMG

Only once. When LBJ wanted to escalate the Vietnam war, there was some pushback, especially in his own party. He called the opponents "Nervous Nellies". My dad was a big fan of LBJ until that point. Ever afterward, he cursed him until the day he died.

No president should ever mock the populace. Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette = exhibit A and B.

Really makes you wonder that people called George W. Bush arrogant, doesn’t it? If arrogance were money Obama would be Bill Gates and Bush would be Joe Sixpack.

I overheard an older black women telling a black man

She has confused "black" with "thief". The majority of those people who approve of 0's performance ie the 47% who get money from the rest of us are just to lazy to steal on their own.

Bill Clinton made a remark on election eve of 1996 about some people who were laughing. He said something to the effect that, “I’ll bet they won’t be laughing tomorrow morning”. Clinton had a nasty attitude but he usually hid it much better than Obama does. Neither had any real respect for the people of America.

we’ll have to come up with an ‘anti’ Mt. Rushmore so that folks can remember never to make stupid mistakes again.

I would suggest a canyon with a "splat!" + a name marker on the bottom for each of them. We can call it the "Great Hole of Presidential Asses".

Look around you and watch the arrogant condescension of his “brilliant” supporters. They’re the real putzes who gave the country all the Democrat punks who push the levers of power.

IMHO

You don’t need a canyon, just an outhouse for each with a name on the door, Obama, Carter, Clinton, etc.

I saw the clip on FOX. he didnt look amused. He looked downright pissed. Like a king complaining his subjects are ungrateful. After all, he only took over 25% of our money and shoved a healthcare plan that we didnt want down our throats. He could have taken more, you know. We should all bow down and kiss the hem of his robe.
