Obama 'amused' by Tea Party rallies (They should thank the Wee Wee for enacting tax cuts)

President Barack Obama struck a hyperpartisan note Thursday, telling Democrats that he was "amused" by the Tax Day Tea Party rallies.

Obama, addressing a Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser in Miami, did little to endear himself to the Tea Party groups protesting around the country, saying "they should be saying thank you" because of the tax cuts he has signed into law.

The president went as far as to say that this week's special election in Florida, which was won by Democrat Ted Deutch, was portrayed by Republicans as "a referendum on healthcare, a referendum on the stimulus."

"And you know what, it was," Obama said to applause.

Obama continued to dare Republicans to run on a platform of repealing healthcare reform, telling the audience "they won't be very successful."

On Fox News last night Shepard Smith let it slip that Obama’s speech at NASA was not to NASA employees, but to some “folks”. I suspect they have to bus in a crowd at every speech to make sure they get unadulterated applause.

Even more than Tax Cuts, I want to see spending cuts.

There is so much the FedGov does which is not part of its Constitutional mandate that 10% annual reductions in those programs would be a good start, and would save hundreds of Billions. Even at current (pre-Obamacare) levels, it would take a while to eliminate the deficit.

That quote is so appropriate for this thread.

BTW, “Goodfellas” is a great flick. I never knew that Joe Pesce was around when Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were starting up.

This was a VERY stupid move on his part. Let him gloat over this “victory” in Florida.

That “amusement” at these silly, pesky little people in the streets public squares is chillingly similar to Marie Antoinette’s famous attitude.

I was thinking more in line with England's Queen Victoria, "We are not amused."

When he starts referring to himself as plural we have an even bigger problem than we thought.

Ummmmm, those aren't "tax cuts". THEY ARE WELFARE PAYMENTS! You actually have to pay taxes in order to have them cut...

Actually, for me they worked out to be tax cuts, in that last year I had $80,000 less income than the previous year, so the credits reduced the tax burden enough to get a token refund.

So, for the middle class group which fell into that category, they were cuts and for some made the difference between paying in more and getting some back.

While that was almost enough income for our family scrape by with some dipping into savings, everything was paid for except the house, and that was bought in a down market years ago with payments less than many pay for their car.

With a 'normal' mortgage payment and a car payment, the ends would not have met.

The sad thing is that the people in that group just might perceive the tax credits as a gimmie for them, and not see the train heading their way.

You know what? It was NEVER about skin color for the vast majority of people. And despite what this IIC (idiot in charge) does to damage this country and her people and their posterity, if in the future a QUALIFIED (unlike the IIC) candidate with darker skin throws his or her hat in the ring and they put everything they have into KEEPING THEIR PRESIDENTIAL OATH TAKEN BEFORE GOD AND THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (unlike the IIC), then I would gladly vote for him or her to be my leader (unlike the IIC), because it’s NOT about skin color. It’s about RAMPANT STUPIDITY and DESTRUCTION OF AMERICA AS WE KNOW IT.

Pyrrhic victory

from dictionary.com
–noun
a victory or goal achieved at too great a cost.

Origin:
1880–85; < Gk Pyrrikós; after a remark attributed by Plutarch to Pyrrhus, who declared, after a costly victory over the Romans, that another similar victory would ruin him

Pyr·rhic victory (pĭr'ĭk)
n. A victory that is offset by staggering losses.

Pyrrhic victory [( peer -ik)]

A victory that is accompanied by enormous losses and leaves the winners in as desperate shape as if they had lost. Pyrrhus was an ancient general who, after defeating the Romans, told those who wished to congratulate him, “One more such victory and Pyrrhus is undone.”

Pyrrhic victory

A victory that is offset by staggering losses, as in The campaign was so divisive that even though he won the election it was a Pyrrhic victory . This expression alludes to Kind Pyrrhus of Epirus, who defeated the Romans at Asculum in a.d. 279, but lost his best officers and many of his troops. Pyrrhus then said: "Another such victory and we are lost." In English the term was first recorded (used figuratively) in 1879.

Those are just income taxes, and do not include the 15% or so of cell phone bills, fuel taxes, excise taxes, and all the hidden taxes which are passed on to the common folk in every item we buy. Everyone pays taxes, the real illusion is that some don’t. Often, the impression is given prices rise because of “corporate greed” and not the increase in regulatory fees and other taxes imposed on those who provide goods and services.
